Deep gold color, average white head. Compared to the world class beers of this style, this one is a very tame, safe middle of the road beer that just goes one step up the ladder from the BMC versions. Still a drinkable beer that might lead a beer drinker on to bigger and better things.

Nice appearance, gold color, firm white head. Light malt aroma, very little hop aroma however. Goes down light and smooth, I suppose it has a little more to it than a BMC, but this doesn’t fall too far outside the boundaries either. Drinkable, but overall Saranac produces some brews that undoubtably lead many on to trying the world of craft beers in general so they deserve a lot of credit for that alone.

Dark and nutty, but not quite a Stout more like a thin Porter. But I don’t think the site has a category for "blends". Dark, creamy, and light overall. This doesn’t venture into any uncharted territory. Saranac produces some drinkable brews that undoubtably lead many on to trying the world of craft beers in general so they deserve a lot of credit for that alone.

Amber color with a smallish head. Malt aroma is subdued but pleasant. The flavor is mildly sweet also, some hops but again restrained. Light body. Drinkable, but overall Saranac produces some drinkable brews that undoubtably lead many on to trying the world of craft beers in general so they deserve a lot of credit for that alone. At one time I thought their beers were great and although not as sophisticated as some I now drink, I wouldn’t object to drinking one again in the right situation.

This is a new beer for me. I have had many Saranac products but have never encountered this one until the new holiday pack came out. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a small white head. There was a mild sour malt aroma. The flavor was sour, malty and had a dry chocolate malt flavor. A roasted malt element lingers on the finish. A bit thin in body. Rather pleasant overall but not a beer I would really seek out.

The description of this beer really revs up the taste buds. I got this one in their holiday pack. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the brew pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head. There is a marvelous aroma of caramel and butterscotch. The flavor is bitter with noted undertones of caramel and butterscotch. A bit of caramel and malt linger on the aftertaste but overall the beer is dominated by bitterness. It is a bit thin and watery on the texture. I think if it were a bit sweeter and less bitter this could be a fantastic beer.

A deep red beer with a small brown disappearing head. The aroma is sweet and roasted. The flavor is dry with notes of metal and a hoppy end, while the body is flat.

Deep red copper with a strong caramel butterscotch DMS aroma. Vanilla too. Sweet caramel ice cream with diacetyl. Medium bodied.
