Gravity cask at Pigs Ear '22, day one, 29/11/22. Very light haze on a golden amber pour with an off white cap. Nose is vinous, tangy green berries, dusty wood, light funk, lemon rind. Taste comprises brown bread, vinous notes, dried fruit rinds, green berry must, funk, light acidic bretty notes, almost a Lambic-esque quality. Medium body, moderate carbonation, light drying close. Solid.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2022 - day 2. Pours clear orange-gold with a bubbly white head. Moderate sweetness with a bit of acetic bite, salty sweat, nips of ripening citrus, pale wood. Medium bodied with delicate carbonation. Sweet finish, further salty bite, a little wood, mellow bretty funk. Enjoyable.

(Draught at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 29 May 2022) Golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, resin, bread and leafy hops. Malty, hoppy taste with crystal malt, apricots, resin, grapefruit and a generous citric/resiny bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Really tasty and refreshing, with a generous hop profile. Highly drinkable. Very nice.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours clear brown with a frothy, tan cap. Light-medium sweet flavour with pleasant toasted malts, a bit of cocoa, toasted biscuits, mild earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Balanced finish, bittersweet, more cocoa, roast, burnt toast, earth, faint coffee. Really tasty gear.

Fucking gushy cunt of a beer, fucking sprayed beer half way across the room as soon as it's feckin pointless wax head was cracked. When that drama is over, it pours an almost clear gold beer with a small pale cream colour head. Nose is softly sour white wine rounded off by vanilla oak barrel. Palate is soft and airy, modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a nice light creamy sweetness. Taste follows the nose, mildly tart white wine much softened by the vanilla oak barrel. A little dry wood manifests before the light dry finish. Nice beer, simple but nice barrel. Marked down for the fucking spray action drama.

33cl bottle - Pours a deep dark brown almost black colour with an average sized frothy beige head that slowly settled. The aroma is roasted dark malts, cocoa powder with some dark fruit notes. A roasted malty taste, dark malt, burnt grain and treacle flavours with a drying roasted and ashy bitterness.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours mostly clear Gold with a small, foamy white head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of crunchy biscuits, straw, pale grains, booze. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more biscuits, light white sugar, some Bitter grass, grain husk, sun-kisses biscuits. Original review text: Bottle at home in London - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours crystal clear yellow-gold with moderate effervescence and a creamy, virginal white head. Rich cereal and biscuits in the nose, with accents of lemon and hay. Medium sweet flavour with more biscuits, some white bread, lemon meringue, light bitter hay. Light-medium bodied with lively carbonation and massaging texture. Pretty well balanced on the finish, lightly warming, fairly dry, with more crispy cereal, pale grains, faint lemon, grapefruit and melon. Overall, a really nice beer. It kind of brings to mind a European strong lager, but there’s definitely a bit more to this one. Solid.

Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of sun-kissed biscuits, slight straw, cereal, very faint caramel. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Subtle grassy bitterness to finish, more lightly toasted biscuits. Sound.
