Description
Worleys Cider had a humble start, when cider maker Neil Worley started experimenting with apple varieties and blends; fermenting them to dry using natural yeasts. After initially buying fresh juice, we began to find our own fruit in various small Somerset orchards and gradually started to master the mysterious arts of fruit selection and fermentation.
This attention to selecting the right fruit has always been important at Worleys. We don’t add flavourings to our ciders, yet each cider we make has distinct characteristics, determined by the apple blends we use.
As the business started to grow, we invested in a lot of our own equipment – buying a mill and press and storage units and increasing the size of our premises. We’ve added a pasteuriser and box-filler to the list since.

500ml bottle as part of Virtual GBBF 2020 cider box. Golden colour, no head and aroma of tangy apple, light funk. Taste is tangy, apple, some tartness, with skin and core, bittersweet with some funky notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, medium-dry finish. Nicely drinkable.

9/1/2020. Cask at Williams Ale & Cider House, London E1. 6.4%. Pour golden with a very small bubbly white head. Aroma of semi-sweet juicy apples, lightly scented, a little woody and funky. Medium sweetness with very slight tartness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, very soft carbonation. Some dryness to finish, very naturally appley, liked this.

500ml bottle. Golden colour, white foamy head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of green apple, hint of sulphur. Taste is tangy apple, alittle apple core & skin, fruity, with notes of oak and vanilla. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry citric and slightly boozy finish. Quite drinkable.

75cl bottle from Scrattings. Shared with Soph on our cider Sunday. Pours a misty gold, nice woody apple orchard aroma. Taste presents a gently coarse woody tannic character, good fleshy medium fruit, spritzy carbonation, a fairly drying. Could do with a more lasting fruitiness, but in general its a nice characterful keeved cider.

Draft at Old No 7, Barnsley. Pours clear golden yellow with minimal head. Aroma: apple juice, straw. Taste: clean, fruity, moderate sweet, low acidity. Light to medium body, almost no carb, sweet-ish fruity finish. Uncomplicated, it's fine

On tap at the Sir John Borlase Warren. Light to mid-gold and slightly hay. Flat. Light apple cider aroma with vinegar and some mild barnyard odours. Balanced tangy taste, but there's a saccharine sweetness that creeps in at the finish. Orchard fruit and lemon drops in the aftertaste. Not without its problems, but it's an above average cider.
