Description

0.33 l bottle from ’Slagerij Bart Ridder’ (Ouderkerk), bottled in April 2016. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, white to tan head. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of banana, cloves, some vanilla and hints of pear. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of banana, clove, some vanilla and a bit of pear, followed by a short, slightly bitter, yeasty-spicy and a little chalky finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Decent and typical Hefeweizen, finally not just a Witbier without adjuncts. Quite refreshing as well, yet nothing special.

0.33 l bottle from ’Slagerij De Ridder’ (Ouderkerk), bottled in December 2016. Clear, very dark brownish red with a massive, dense, stable, tan head. Faint, sweetish, slightly roasty, a little fruity aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel, nuts and some raisins. Sweetish, roasty-malty, minimally fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, nuts, some caramel and hints of raisins, followed by a medium long, roasty, moderately bitter finish. Medium body, effervescent mouthfeel, very lively carbonation. Not very interesting, quite drinkable though, especially considering that I expected a lot worse with regard to the brewer (NHB).
