Bottle from Gulating. Looks great in the glass, close to black body under a big, stable, foamy beige head. A bit weak in aroma, malt driven, dark, mild roasted, hint of dry fruit, dark chocolate, and liquorices. Taste is medium sweet, smooth, dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, hint of dry fruit and maybe traces of liquorices. Balanced bitterness. Medium to thin bodied with same aftertaste. Not a pastry bomb, but a decent, rather classic London porter. As expected quite light in body with a nice, refreshing, straight forward dark malt flavour. Nice to see some of the honest, old clasics once in a while.

0,33 boks fra julenissens verksted i Verksgata, hjemme: brunsvart med ok skum. Slank aroma og heller skuffende slank smak med kaffe, lakridschokolader, hint av furunål/granskudd. Kort og heller intetsigende ettersmak.

Can. An unclear dark brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, some dark chocolate, caramel and toffee, with a light spiced touch. It's a bit thin on the palate, at least considering the ABV, with a soft carbonation making it feel even thinner. Semi-sweet, with a chocolate and roasted malts driven flavor. Some caramel and a lightly harbal, bitter touch. Medium length finish. A bit uninteresting this one, not imperial, not regular. Lacks a bit on body too. 231118

Can @ home. Dark brown body under a nice, creamy beige head. Aroma of moderate roasted malt, caramel, toffee and hint of yeast. Taste is sweet and malty, mild caramel, quite smooth, still something a little bit harsh in the background. Medium body with a malty aftertaste. Drinkable but I find it a bit something between a Belgium dubbel and a stout without being any of them.

Bottle @ home. Unclear golden body under a big white head. Aroma has pale malt, lemon and yeast. Taste is smooth, mild pale malt, distinct lemon, coriander and moderate bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. This taste much more like a saison with lemon than pale ale, it has also quite much coriander in taste, but I don’t see that in the ingredients list. Nothing complex, but still a decent brew with a twist.
