On tap at the brewery taproom. A quite thin one, as expected, but at least it slides down very easily. Dark bread, caramel, some dark dried fruit and s touch of fresh fruit. Refreshing and quenching. 747313 280305

Slightly unclear deep amber body under a nice, lacing tan head. Aroma has caramel, bread and slightly nutty. Taste is on the malty side with toffee, bread moderate bitterness. Light bodied, but considering the style and the low ABV it feels right. Quite long-lasting malty, relatively sweet aftertaste. Isolated evaluated as ‘just another beer’ it’s really nothing extraordinary besides a well crafted beer, but has to be considered made as a tribute to a rare, almost forgotten historical style this is a pretty interesting beer. It’s a low alcohol beer with more body and flavour than usually found in typical straight forward hop fruity pale ale/session IPA’s that’s frankly just consist of a nice aroma added to a totally neutral body. It’s also an interesting fact that left-over bread has been used as an addition to the brewing malt. The lost history might as well be the future of modern beer right now, bring em on!

Tap @ Qvarteret. Pitch black body under a small, short living beige head. Aroma has very light roasted dark malt, dark chocolate and hint of coffee with almost no alcohol. Taste is super smooth, sweet, dark malt, dark chocolate with no bitterness and a touch of coffee. The alcohol is just contributing with a warming feeling at the finish. It reminds me of Kahlua, but the beer flavours are still present. Well-made, balanced and true to the origin. This is the kind of pastry ‘’stout’’ that I can relate to - rather clean without all these nonsense as maple syrup, nut cream, caramel essence etc.

Tap @ the brewery during beer makers dinner. During brewing a batch of Svartskjær something went wrong and they ended up with a 7,2 % ABV beer with a different profile. This was named Feilskjær during the dinner. Will only be available in limited quantum at the taproom later. Dark brown body under a tan head. Strong coffee aroma even as it’s no coffee present in this brew. Dark malt, dry fruit and a faint hint of liquorices. Taste has medium roasted dark malt, medium sweet, dry fruit, a touch of liquorices and coffee and balanced bitterness. A bit undefined in taste but not bad at all.

On tap at the brewery, beer makers dinner with Grimsvollen Kolonial. Quite a lot of freshly ground coffee here, hints of licorice and dark dried fruit. Some roasted notes and coffee. Quite nice for a beer that should've been something else. 747414 260122
