Description

Bottle split at CBC Clerko, thanks to an IP trade with Bierkoning - cheers Edo, 30/09/14. Light black to extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering that forms an angry clowns face! Nose is earthy roast, liqourice, toffee fudge, spice, peated notes but not too intense, pine linger. Taste comprises dark malts, roasted tones, booze trace, pine, subtle Jura, medicinal tang. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alochol. Decent enough effort at what it is!

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost black colour, big beige head. Aroma of blueberries, grapefruit, roasted malts, liquorice, charcoal, chocolate, earth, some alcohol, not your average BIPA. Flavour is sweet, fruity, currants, blueberries, grapefruit, charcoal, liquorice, some bitter chocolate, yeast, decent bitter finish, earthy and light ashy. Medium bodied. Over-carbonated, but a few swirls tackled that problem.

Bottle shared by Colin. It pours near black with a thick light tan head. The nose is medicinal, smoked peat, roasted malt, cocoa, wood, sweet whisky and toffee. The taste is bitter, roasty, booze, medicinal, earth, peat, ash, charred wood and booze with a very drying finish. Punchy and warming. A nice drop in small measures.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich-roast, dark chocolate, pine, earth, orange peel and a touch of sherbet. The taste is bitter, rich roasted malt, earth, toast, pepper, caramel, dark chocolate, charred wood, spice and alcohol warmth with a very dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A touch rough around the edges, but not bad.
