Description

Sampled bottle @ Borefts Hotel room. Day #2. Procured @ Speciaal Bier Winkel in Bodegraven. Hazy dark orange, little head. Huge grapefruit, zest, bitter hop nose. Quite bitter taste, fizzy, bitter herbs, bitter orange peel, lots of hops, grass. Drinks quite well, nice.

Bottle from the De Molen Beershop. Poured a hazy medium amber with a huge frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is big yeast, alcohol, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a soft yeast, zesty citrus light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with very lively carbonation. The aroma is right there in your face, but this a really smooth, flavourful tripel. The alcohol is well in the background which was a big surprise. This beer would give some of the more established tripels a run for their money.

Bottle @ de Molen, small sample. Hazy light brown color, short frothy head. Aroma is slight spicy, some caramel, bit flowery hop, slight pine. Bit sweet in taste, spicy. Like a bit more bitter belgian amber ale or belgian double. Not my favorite style, but ok for a bit.

Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Another slow gusher from this brewery. Palate is semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Semi dry dark malts, mild roast, touch of dry cream. Sweetish floral candy fruits. Mild piney hops. Smooth semi dry finish. Little spice. Tasty.

Opaque dark brown beer, ginourmous fluffy pale tan head. Bottle continued a slow gush. Palate is airy, semi dry and crisp. Thin dark malts, some roast. Touch of sweet floralness before pine hop kicks in. Light dry finish. Mellow roasty linger. Not bad.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, medium sized light brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, lightly hops, lightly peat, decently roasty. Taste malts, lightly roasted malts, lightly peat, still some hops remaining, a nice bitterness, a touch of liquorice and lightly whisky. Wow, this has worked out way better than I had expected! A nice lightly warming alcohol touch in the finish. Medium body, medium carbonation. Very nice!

Bottle @ benzai. Pitch black colour with a small to medium sized, creamy, greyish beige head. Smells slightly tar, wood, liquorice, sweet, roasty, dark malts, hint of whisky but I can’t really find the peat (which isn’t a bad thing). Tastes roasty, coffee, after a while a lovely chocolate taste comes through, a hint if whisky, some peat but definitely not too much by any means, sweet, and a very small hint of whisky. Another great Berghoeve brew if you ask me. Full body, slightly thick, soft carbo. Nice!
