Description

Re-rate as Berghoeve Meibock: Sampled @ Arendsnest. Somewhat oramge golden color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, light caramel, light sugar, a bit hayish. Don’t get much more. Is this really the same beer as Kriebels? Decent body and carbonation. -- Old rating: Bottle @ home. Opaque hazy orange color, full sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, quite fruity, some bitterness. Quite similar to hammer blont. Weird. Must try again. 6-3-6-3-12=3.0

Bottle @ home. Gusher, but I blame MrHangover instead of the beer ;) Hazy opaque dark orange color, full sized creamy off-white head. Aroma is malts, lightly iron, fruits, plums. Taste malts, again fruityness of plums, a bit sweet-bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Must try this again some time.

On tap at the Groningen Bierfestival. Black, really black in the glass. Dark berries and peppermint at the nose.Starts mild, little bit burning alcohol. A lot of dark fruits and burned malt. Hop bitterness present in the background. Like a very spicy Schwarzbier. Very good!

33cl Bottle from Speciaalbierwinkel Bodegraven. ABV is 6%. Reddish brown colour, light-beige head. Aroma is sweet, Roosvicee, red fruits, raisins, syrup, light spicy, burnt sugar. Flavour is sweet, light malty, dark fruits, sweet plums, Roosvicee, burnt sugar, hint of roasted malts, mostly sweet finish. Light to medium-bodied. Too sweet, and not very bock-like.

Dunkler, fruchtig malziger Antrunk. Süßer im Mittelteil, karamellig, weiterhin dunkel malzig. Die Karbonisierung ist insgesamt zu stark, was aber die sonst zu starke Süße überdeckt. 9/11/8/10/8/9

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a medium amber with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is yeast light fruit malt. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, light sweet, with a rich fruity resin woody alcohol hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Really liked this, like most beers from Berghoeve.

33 cl bottle @ home, about a year old. Very dark color. Huge, frothy, rocky beige head, good retention. Aroma’s of roasted malts, red fruit, brett/funk. Even more brett retronasal. Flavor is roasted, bretty, a bit bitter chocolate, some light tartness. Light bodied. High carbonation. Finishes with lots of roast, ashy - that’s the best part of this beer. I’d be very curious about a proper (no brett) version.
