12 oz bottle. Pours hazy pale orange with little particulates floating around; has a quickly collapsing white head. Aroma consists of coriander, fruit gone bad, candy (red licorice is the first thing to come to mind). Taste is lightly sweet, a bit tart and finishes dry. Notes of cough drop and Red Vines licorice. Highly carbonated with a thin body. Not terrible, but I was hoping for more from this.

At a tasting, thanks David D., small creamy head, hazy deepish yellow colour, aroma of orange, spice and some sourdough, flavour of almong and some sour fruits with some wheatiness in the back. Heavy and unapealing, single white is enough.

Bottle: Poured a hazy beige color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of rustic malt with lightly sweet undertones. Taste is dominated by sweet notes upfront with some rustic malt and light fruity ester. This is probably a tad too sweet for my liking. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Good though probably tad more sweet then some of its overseas cousin.

Bottle at the Funky 8, Brooklyn, NYC. Really, really sweet. Tons of dark sugars, fruits, rich bread. Not altogether bad, but a bit cloying and it would be tough to take down more than a small serving.

Heavy Woods, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours black with a tan head (I didn’t get much of it because the bartender poured it all the way to the top). Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and a bit of roasted malt, along with some caramel up in there. Taste is slightly sweet, with somewhat bitter chocolate. Body is medium. Mouthfeel is nice. Carbonation is medium-low. Thicker than many European versions of course. Good
