Bottle drunk 5/20/17.
Amber-golden with a good clarity and strong viscosity.
Spice, bourbon and maple rise up in the nose buoyed-on by the backing honey to create a lightly rich nose that shows just a hint of red fruits and light pepper with long molasses, buttercream and maple on the finish and quite low alcohol apparency.
Didn’t realize this was Utopias cask-aged, and while you do get lots of spice, wood, whiskey and port, it’s not particularly obvious that there was beer in here (I guess it’s not particularly obvious that Utopias is a beer, either). Raisin, vanilla and maple provide, rich, chewy, decadent flavors and the mead is sweet, not too much so, with a good viscosity that stops well-short of being syrupy or cloying. Soft oak lingers. Nice.

Little hazy pale yellow cider, no head. Aroma: lots of apple juice, sweet, not much else, hint of honey. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of apple juice, pretty sweet, some green apples giving it a sourish touch. Aftertaste: bit lemony, acidic, more apple juice, that's pretty much it.

Bottle from the source. Crystal clear dark blush with a hint of orange. Sweet floral honey and lots of jammy tart raspberries on the nose. Sweet honey with a hint of flowery earth flavor and plenty of sweet and tart raspberry to counter quite nicely. Very enjoyable beverage!

Bottle from the source. Deep garnet color with brilliant clarity. Perfumy floral and tart on the nose with bits of non descript fruit. Flavor is pretty tart and fruity with bits of sweet honey and some light non descript berry type fruit. Bits of alcohol warming make this quite a sipper.
