Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!

Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.

Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!

In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Brunning & Price Original Bitter from Phoenix (Oak Brewing Co.)

Cask at the White Hart, Chobham. Bright straw with a tight cream head; light citrus aroma; clean and grainy in the mouth with a light lemony citrus taste; and a lingering grassy bitterness to finish. A pleasant, summer, golden ale, hardly a bitter.

Absolutely awesome example of fruity yeast esters. No tw rubbish. Drinks stupid easy. Lovely strawbeery notes. Juicy. Superb.

Cask at Aston Manor Beer Festival; straw yellow pour with white, aroma has light malt, taste has citrus sweet malt, apparently a clear wheat!

Cask @ The Lime Kiln, Liverpool, during the Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2015. Yellow-blonde with a thin head and a very crisp. Has a light hoppy aroma.

Cask at Paramount; clear chestnut brown pour with a creamy tan head, aroma has some tart fruits with a hint of cocoa powder, taste has some light roast, red fruits and milk chocolate.

Cask @ Dirty Dick’s, Halifax. Golden with a creamy head. It’s an easy-drinking ale given its smoothness in the palate, with a light, not full-bodied tropical fruitiness, but one that’s pleasant.
