27/9/2024. Cask at St. Albans Beer & Cider Festival 2024. Merseyside rating #200. Pours close to black with a small lasting frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma is ashy, chocolate, blackberry, caramel, dark fruits, light roasted malt, raisins. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness, light sour edge. Moderate body, oily watery, soft carbonation. Drying chocolate finish. Quite decent but lacked a bit of body.

Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2024. An opaque mahogany brown coloured pour with a fading loose tan head. Aroma is earthy, roast, cakey malts. Dried fruits, prune, dusty dark malts. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, toasted malts, burnt cake, dusty, chalky finish. Trail mix. Little thin. Palate is dusty, decent cask condition, ok.

Cask at Lower Angel, Warrington. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized foamy cream head. There’s malts and nuts in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with a creamy texture. Malts to the fore in the flavour with hints of traditional hops and dark fruits. Finish is slightly dry. This is reasonable but somewhat boring.
