Jet black colour. Thin creamy head. Aroma is intensely of treacle toffee! Flavour is sweet treacle toffee then burnt, bitter cocoa and coffee. Nice but the intense nature stops it from being a sessionable beer.

Cask at Willow Walk, London Victoria. It pours darkest brown, with ruby highlights and a thin beige film. The nose is sweet toffee, butterscotch, treacle and brown sugar. The taste is more subdued than the smell: toffee, caramel, treacle, brown bread, burnt sugar, roasted malt and cardboard, with a dry finish. Thin to medium body and soft carbonation. Too thin and a bit one dimensional.

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby Spoons Canterbury. Fourth half here at thus cant be as bad as the otgers. It simply cant. Black beer with lasting thin tan head. Treacle tart aroma with choc is definitely a good start. Some treacle stout in mouth. Not malty enough to underpin the big flavours. Alcohol is a bit raw. Another underperforming Spoons fest beer. Poor.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours oily brown with a foamy, tan head. Looks good. Sweet aroma with hints of chocolate and candy. Medium sweet flavor, mild roast, some burnt wood, cocoa, and what I assume is treacle. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mild brown sugar finish, slight earthy hops, some dirt and burnt cocoa. Alright.

Cask at The White Lion, Fewcott, Oxon, 31.07.11 Pours gold with a slim white head. Steady decent beer that whilst enjoyable came up a little bit short when drunk alongside the Salopian Conundrum. Soft in the mouth, even a little creamy, light citrus, safe but not bad. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask, 5.1%. Almost clear copper colour. Small creamy tan head. The flavour starts off quite watery, but turns nutty, even with a tiny bite of hops. All right, afterall.
