Draught @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, coffee, light to moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft. (220208)

As near as no head as possible, over near-opaque Coca-Cola coloured beer. Very coffee-ish, burnt nose, but with a unmistakably sweet background. Taste initially a s bitter, cold coffee. Usually, I don’t mind, but this really a bit too much real-coffee-like for my liking. Later, the coffee seems sugared after all, whilst the sweetness reminds me both of cola, as of Haagse Hopjes, a kind of coffee sweet popular in the Netherlands. In the end, one gets a flavour as from hoestbollen , breastsweets spiced with honey, thyme, laurel, liquorice, and of course, eucalyptus. Not thin, but thinner than expected. After all, this started out as 1094°OG, and managed 10% ABV, no? Very slick. I’m sorry Ron. This bottle is exceptional, and the recipe exceptionally interesting. It’s just not quite my taste...

Bottle. Clear medium amber orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, herbs, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. ;o)) (220208)

Hazy orange colour, off-white head. Aroma is fruity and hoppy. Flavour has malts and some fruits. Bitter and ends dry. Nice beer.

Not tasted in the best conditions as it was from a bottle into a ZBF glass on the train from St Niklaas back to Antwerp. Very dark brown with no real head. Choc stout aroma. Pretty smooth in mouth. Intense aroma, but pretty drinkable in mouth. Some soy sauce, but not over the top. Some nutty flavour too. Very good. Does not blow me away. Lovely choc and coffee. 4.0 Keykeg at Kent BF2014. Wow. Chocolate intense. Smooth. Thick in the mouth in a good way. Frankly amazing. Like chocolate milkshake without the milk. Pretty much amazing.

Bottle, 5.9%. Nice, refreshing hop aroma. Cloudy orange colour, sparkling. Big stable white head. The flavour is also hoppy as well as caramelly and with a hint of yeast. Quite nice. High carbonation.

Bottle, 5.0%. Very nice hop aroma, fruity, refreshingly grassy, and sweet. Hazy golden colour. Small stable chalk white head. The flavour starts off with a distint, clean bitterness. There is also some of the same hoppiness as in the aroma, though more flowery than fruity. Has a little watery notes in the finish, but still nice. 7 3 7 3 15

Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a reddish hue. Looks clear, but I’m not sure. The head is big, tan and foamy, and nice lacings are left. The aroma is sugary and chocolatey with alcohol, dried fruits, roasted malt and a little perfumy touch. Sweet chocolate, some alcohol, lots of prunes and raisins and some roasted malt in the flavor, before the bitterness comes stronger towards the end and gets very pleasant. Warming, full-bodied mouthfeel. There’s too much alcohol evident I think, but maybe it’s just because it’s the first beer today? (080126)

Bottle, 8.6%. Fat vinous aroma, brown sugar. Almost black colour, small tight light brown head. The flavour is nicely roasted, vinous fruitiness, very flavourful. A little roasted bitterness, but by no means unpleasant. Creamy mouthfeel. Very nice.

[Courtesy of yespr - session @ yespr] Black with tiny head. Sweet aroma with burned malt, liquerice, chocolate and coffee notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, liquerice, coffee and smoky notes. Ends rather sweet and bitter.
