Re-rate 5/19/11: Bottle sample at a blind Hefeweizens tasting. Slightly hazy golden. Aroma of lots of banana and bubblegum. Sweetish fruity flavor with banana and some overripe fruits. Medium-bodied. Nice and mellow. My 2nd place of the tasting. 7/3/7/4/14=3.5

Re-rate 3/15/11: Bottle. Cloudy dark orange with a white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit esters and some herbal spiciness. Sweetish-sourish fruity flavor with some drier spiciness that’s getting strong in the finish. Nice fluffy Weizen mouthfeel. Finishes a bit too spicy but still decent. 7/3/6/4/13=3.3

Bottle. I like the appearance of this bottle (with the alpine mountains on it). Cloudy yellow color with a big white head. Aroma is wheaty, fruity, citrusy, and I never smelled "Alpine herbs" before, but I think I smell them now. A pretty sweet wheaty flavor, a bit herbal, with very light acidity maybe, with fruitiness, some banana, some lemon and some spices. Light to medium bodied. A good Weissbier with a nice little twist. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5

Draught. Cloudy brown with an average but long-lasting head. Aroma is wheaty and fruity. A wheaty flavor with lots of banana and light acidity. Light to medium body. A nice dunkelweizen overall.

Bouteille, courtoisie de Jean Marc. De couleur jaune dorée et semi-voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (citron et bananes, notes d’autres agrumes plus sucrées), d’épices (clou de girofle) et de blé, léger de gomme balloune et de pain avec des notes de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) et des traces de vanille. Plutôt mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Goût de levures fruitées (citron et bananes, faibles notes d’agrumes sucrées) avec un goût épicé (clou de girofle) et un léger goût de gomme balloune lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de blé légèrement asséchant (faibles notes sûres) et un léger goût de pain puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches et traces de foin) et de levures. Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux et de levures, de blé et fruité (pelures de bananes et zest d’agrumes).

Bottled(330ml). -Pours a hazy orange/yellow colour with small white head and bubblegum lemony banana nose. Strong banana and wheat taste with notes of alpine herbs, spices and yeast. Very fruity and refreshing.

2016 rating:Wow... 9 years have passed already? OK. Got it for free, will rerate it. Full misty yellow body with a huge white, creamy head, good retention. Pungent, sweet aroma - apricot jam rules over soft creamy yeastiness and vague caramelly maltiness, perhaps with a touch of banana. The banana ester is still there in the taste, mild, with the taste lighter than I remember it being. fresh, slightly citric and herbal from the "alpine herbs" I assume, the apricot pushing through again here and there, as is the caramel, ending with some chewed-up bubblegum like yeastiness, and slightly on the drier side. This is still one of the best macro beers anywhere.2007 rating:The distribution of this confounds me. Is it available only in Canada and Croatia so far ? Hazy ochre colour. Small white head that went away fast. A strong and very pleasant aroma of bananas, cloves and some other spice rounded up by some lacticity. The taste is also surprisingly pleasant. A truly lovely citric (almost lime) and herbal taste rounded up by a inobtrusive wheaty lacticity and yeastiness. Quite refreshing. Almost an Austrian take on the Belgian Wit style. A very pleasant surprise. Despite the gimmickey appearence of the bottle (and the twist off cap), this is one fine weissbier. 8/3/8/4/15

0.5L bottle.strong banana and bubblegum aroma. Cloudy yellow with a lot of bubbles, medium size white head that lingers for a while, crisp and very easy to drink. finish medium and a little too alcoholic.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a big white head that lasts a while. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Flavor is yeast, wheat, citrus and banana. Some sweetness and some sourness. A pretty sour finish. Body is light, too light. A decent weissbier.

0.5l bottle purchased in some Spar in Graz Poured a nice pale golden colour with a medium sized fluffy white head at a medium pace (heh). Nice flowery malty nise, with some hoppy hints. Too faint though. Initially a nice lemony, bitter and somewhat acidic herbal hoppy taste, lacking the alcohol/malt assault of other Austrian Heller Bocks. Don’t get me wrong, the malt is still there, but it’s fine and pleasant... almost too fine and light for the style. The alcohol could be felt as it warmed, but never too much. Long acidic-bitter chewy hoppy aftertaste. The hopiness does seem a little overstated from time to time, and could be annoying to some, but this is still a quality beer. Not so much a Bock as a... say "Imperial Pilsner" (could be making a mistake as I’ve never had one) and possibly underrated.
