Description
When the young Viennese banker Franz Schaup started brewing beer in 1858, he did not expect his small brewery to develop into one of the most successful breweries in Austria over the years.

In the meantime, the Zipf brewery near the Attersee has a proud 13 beers and 3 types of hops, the refreshment with hop lemonade for adults, to their range. A total of 170 employees work directly at the location in Zipf. They are the ones who ensure that everything runs smoothly every day and are responsible for a large part of the success of the Zipfer brand.

Despite the numerous technical innovations and a merger with Brau Union Österreich AG in 1970, the careful use of resources and brewing with natural hops were always in the foreground.

Bottled. Slight hazy and sparkling, straw beer with a large, white head. Aroma has lots of banana and cloves, apples and yeast as well. Thin body with some fizzyness, and a flavor of banana, some citrus, spices yeast and little touch of alcohol. Long fruity and slightly bitter finish. Pleasant, if not a classic. (060404)

Bottled. Clear golden, surprisingly firm head. Vague bready malt aroma. Druish and very light bodied, small notes of raisiny wort. Some grassy hops covers the very thin body, and keeps it together. Finishes with low-medium bitterness. Better than most comparable beers in Swedish supermarkets, which doesn’t tell you a lot.

Very light hop and malt aroma. Light gold. Flavor is light malt; probably better cold. Very light palate. For their version of cheap beer, not bad; and quite pleasant on the train watching the Austrian countryside pass by.
