Bottle from Melbecks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Clear bright gold with a small consistent white head. Sweet malt aroma, fusty and citric hop with a touch of metal. Taste of caramel, citrus, a floral to metalic note. It has sweet tangy resinous quality. Near medium bodied, semi-drying, soft carbonation. Decent, goes down well.

Bottle from Bicester Avenue Garden Centre, Bicester. Black with a light beige head and a moderate fizz. Maybe a little thin. Soot up front before sweeter chocolate comes through. Nice balance of flavours even though the treacle mentioned on the bottle seems to have gone awol. Quite drinkable if not that exciting; it's that rare thing, a stout that's genuinely sessionable and that you could drink all night.

Can at home watching the first T20 vs Safrica, from the local Coop, 27/11/20. Clear golden with carbonation evident and topped with a decent just off white head. Nose is pale malts, grass, toasted grains, light cereals, hint of lemon. Taste comprises soft and pale malts, light breads, straw, mellow hop presence, cereals, fruit esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough refreshing pils but perhaps a touch sweet to be one to head back to.
