Bottle @ home. Almost clear, brown/amber body under a big, creamy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, brown sugar and Belgium yeast. Taste is sweet caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar and Belgium yeast. Medium body and average aftertaste. Quite average, drinkable, food friendly Belgium brown ale.

Bottle @ home. Unclear golden orange under a fine, lacing, big white head. Aroma is fruity and floral with malt, oranges and Belgium yeast. Taste is sweet, soft malt, ripe fruit, yeast, spices and balanced bitterness. Fine body, same aftertaste. A very nice, well made classic Belgium blonde – what more could you expect from a Belgium blonde? This is the classic stuff.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, dark golden colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Yeasty fruity and grassy hoppy aroma, minimally biscuity and spicy, pale malty background, hints of banana, yellow apple, a touch of speculoos. Taste is moderately bitter, grassy hoppy, yeasty fruity and minimally biscuity, pale malty with some residual sweetness, hints of apple and pear, peppery spicy overtones; lingering, grassy, bitter finish. Watery texture with an oily strand, dry, simultaneously minimally greasy palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Well hopped, harmonious, simple - OK.

Ever growing foamy white head on a hazy pale golden coloured body. Malt, grain & cereal aroma. Medium bodied, overly carbonated & dry - really unpleasant in the mouth. Bitter, grain, Belgian yeast & tangy peppery tastes. Harsh to drink & very poor.

Belgian IPA hopped with Nelson Sauvin, in a brand created in 2013 by West-Flemish hobby brewers going commercial at Anders but selling the brand to De Leite in 2021. It remains to be seen how stable this situation is and how long the brand will remain in existence. Gusher, so be careful when opening. Egg-white, very rocky, foamy, very thick, plaster-like lacing, uneven-bubbled but firm head, towering inches high over a misty pale orange blonde beer with 'old golden' hue and strong visible sparkling; cloudy and darker orange with sediment. Aroma of half-dried orange peel, grapefruit juice, watermelon, apple blossoms, canned peach, glazed carrot, white dessert wine (the Nelson Sauvin speaking), kiwi jam (dito), red bell pepper soup, honey, ripe pepino, tulips, powder sugar melting on a hot pancake, background notes of clove, dry earth and raw turnip. Crisp, fruity, sweetish onset, ripe peach, apricot jam even, red apple, pear and vague pineapple, disturbed by - even for Belgian IPA - very sharp overcarbonation with souring and minerally effects; sourish tomato-ish undertone but very faint. Lightly peanutty, cracker- and rusk-like maltiness, sweetish with bittering toasty edge, under growing hop bitterness, becoming very leafy and earthy in the end, calling for associations with tonic water, grapefruit peel and dandelion; some spicy phenols (clove) appear too, but the hops do get a lot of attention here, even showing off a touch of Nelson Sauvin 'grapeyness' and - much more prominent - orange peel zestiness. Ends quite earthy though, with the citrusy 'fraîcheur' all but gone by then, but the bitterness remains firmly in place and gets the last word. Indeed Belgian style IPA, yeasty and earthy, but with a more 'bright' fruity hoppy aroma than usual in that particular segment; not bad, in all, even better than expected perhaps, but the overcarbonation (with foam initially filling the glass) is an issue which should be dealt with.

Cette Paljas IPA m'a relativement peu emballé. L'équilibre global n'est pourtant pas mauvais, même si l'amertume manque un peu de vivacité, mais je l'ai trouvé un brin ennuyeuse avec un manque de développement sur la dégustation et notamment sur la longueur. Le visuel est sur un ambré voilé avec une très fine effervescence soutenue et un mousse blanc cassé de 5 mm. Le nez est sur un cocktail d'orange amère, caramel et miel avec une pointe de pamplemousse qui manque à mon goût de légèreté. Sur l'attaque l'amertume est d'une bonne vivacité avec un bon équilibre malt/houblon. La deuxième bouche est un peu plus poussive avec des arômes d'orange amère qui prennent l'ascendant ce qui écrase quelque peu l'ensemble. Et si l'arrière bouche ramène un peu de vivacité, le final, moyennement long est sur une amertume plus neutre. L'alcool, à 6 % est pour sa part honnête et le sucre pas trop poussé. Un manque de passion tout de même pour cette Paljas.
