Muddy brown with absolutely no carbonation. The flat profile sorta kills the mouthfeel. Cocoa, vanilla, sweet chocolate. Full bodied. Sweet finish. The lack of carbonation brings this down a few pegs on what otherwise would be a real nice brew.

Schooner on tap at Bitter Phew, Sydney. Clear golden beer with a thin white head which dissapates. A few bubbles ascend. Nose is full of vanilla and lactose. Ice cream! First taste is like vanilla milkshake with alcohol burn. Second taste reveals nutty elements. The alcohol notes are still there but more restrained. Pretty much a novelty beer.

Bottle, advent calendar. Somewhat hazy amber with a fading white head. Aroma of dough medicinal notes, pepper and tropical bubblegum. Light bodied. Lots of fruit, cloves, pepper. Bitterness creeps up a bit but given it’s not quite dry I would have liked a little more. Pretty good.

Bottle. Black, some tan bubbles at the rim. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, lactose, brioche, nectarines. Awfully close to flat. Lactose smooth, not really heavy for 12%. But very sweet indeed with chocolate, vanilla, some coffee, brioche. But pretty substantial bitterness nips away and is in control at the end with orange and nectarine overtones to the chocolate. Good but a bit big for what it offers (and just a few more bubbles might have helped).

(Bottle) Pours slightly hazy golden amber with almost no head. Interesting but not entirely pleasant aroma - cardboard, vegetables and vanilla. Nice mouthfeel- medium body with plenty of fine carbonation. Unusual, interesting taste. At first taste I didn’t like it; the flavours seemed to clash. However a few sips later and they don’t jar as much and are quirky interesting. There is a moderate amount of light malt sweetness and a vegetable taste. There is also vanilla. There’s some tartness at the start and in the finish. Odd, interesting, wouldn’t choose it again.

Bottle from their advent box. Not sure whether this or one of the next two is my 100th different Bridge Rd beer here on RateBeer. Clear gold with a cm of white head. Aroma of crackery dough, oranges (not obviously an addition) and spices. Perhaps slightly more funky than their regular saison. But the blood orange is much more obvious in the taste - first sweet orange juice, then a little astringency at the end. The sweetness blunts the usual dry and bitter finish a little.

330ml bottle - Pours a slightly hazy coppery amber colour with an average sized frothy beige head. Aroma is toffee malts, berries and mixed dried fruit. A sweetish caramel malt taste, sweet dried fruit and orange peel flavours. Smooth mouthfeel with a very nice spicey wood hop finish.

330ml bottle - Pours a hazy dirty straw colour with an average sized frothy near white head. Aroma is malty, ripe fruit and yeasty with some spicy hop notes. A moderately sweet taste, light grainy wheat and ripe fruit flavours (overripe bananas). Light acidity and bitterness with a dryish finish, quite good.
