Description
Initially, the beer was brewed by Roberto Giannarelli at home using minimal tools needed. After initial successes Roberto decided to invest and finally crown his dream shifting production to the historic former barn renovated ad hoc to accommodate new machinery and definitely give rise to La Petrognola Brewery. Between 2012 and 2013, the transfer takes place to the new site a few meters away from the previous one, but with very different spaces and possibilities for development.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of spices, malt, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of citrus and chestnuts, leading to a biter finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a pale amber with a slight haze and a white head. Aroma has sweet and perfumy fruit - but also smoke! infection? Medium body, sweet and fruity with distinct Bamberg-style smoke. Some bitterness in the finish. 100810

Courtesy Igklotet, thanks Lars! Muddy light bronze colour. Phenols and a fruity character indicate maybe this is past its best. Chestnut character? Not sure, it’s somewhat indistinct. Some nuttiness in there, that’s for certain. Decent brew, maybe past its prime a bit.

My girlfriend brought this back from Italy for me and she paid 4.80 euros for it at some store. In any case, it pours a cloudy peach, with sediment floating all around it. The sediment sticks to the bottom of the glass by the end. The head is loose, but leaves a layer of lacing. It looks king of like a hefeweizen. Aroma is of sugary malts, spices, and citrus. Rather light bodied. Somewhat sweet. Reminds me of a hefeweizen in flavor and texture. Cirtus flavors throughout. Kind of spicy. Although it is similar to other beers it stakes out a unique post for itself and that is if anything laudable.
