Bottle sampled at Apotekergården, Grimstad. Very good looking, clear, deep ruby red body with a moderate sized off-white head. Among one of the best locking beer I have ever seen. Fine malty aroma with some caramel and fruit. Alcohol is well hidden. Flavor is definitively malt driven, balanced sweet and bitter with some toast and red fruit, but the main focus here is definitively the malt flavor. Fine body with a sweet malty aftertaste as well. Nothing revolutionary going on here, but a nice interpretation of a red ale.

Pours ruby-tingeds copper with a lasting head.Very malty aroma, with lots of caramel, toffee, nutty, toasty and bready malt. Some resinous, earthy hops too. Really enticing.Equally malty flavours, with more caramel and bready malt along with a bold, assertive, hoppy bite and a fair bit of booze to back things up.Carbonation seems a bit excessive.

From a 500ml bottle on 28/4/2013. Pours a deep opaque golden with a medium head which disappears quickly. Has a lovely floral fruity aroma which isn’t really typical of the style. In the mouth, it starts out very sweet with apricot, peach and nectarine all there in spades. The counterbalancing bitterness is definitely there, but again it’s not the grapefruity, piny or resiny type you’d expect in a typical DIPA. That said, it’s still got a lot to offer to hop heads, with floral and herbal hops which linger in the mouth. the palate is slightly syrupy and the carbonation moderate. All up, and enjoyable and quite unusual DIPA. I suspect this is getting punished on here because it’s Australian. I bet if this was put out by an American brewery with a big rep, raters would be lauding it.

(Tap) Clear coppery amber with good white head. Good fall hoppy aroma. Light body nice carbonation. Lovely sweet and light start leads to an excellent big hoppy bitter finish. Overall a nicely balanced big IPA.
