Pours a clear, dark, reddish-copper, with thick, creamy head. Strong, floral hop aroma, with pine and citrus notes. Flavor is big and bitter, with strong, piney hops and a bitter finish. Pretty good stuff, though it might use a bit of balancing away from the bitterness.

Winterfest 2015. Like the Cherry version, Iiked this much more than the standard double black. Same thick palate and roast. Lots of vanilla, and there is coffee too. The bourbon seems to balance well with these flavors.

Winterfest 2015. I liked this much more than the regular double black. It has the same heavy roast. Aroma has an aroma of heavily roasted grain and cherry. More cherry in the flavor, the vanilla is here too, and it is very balanced with the heavy roast. Great beer.

Sampled from the tap at Winterfest 2015. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of dark grains, vanilla, roasted malts and bourbon with a hint of cherry underlying. Flavor combines, vanilla, dark grains, roasted malts and a bit of chocolate with bourbon and cherry underlying.

Bottle @ home shared with Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head. Aroma is malts, bourbon, lightly vanilla. Taste malts, only slightly a hint of roasted malts, some caramel, bourbon, dark chocolate, vanilla, softly bitter. Bitterness only just wins it from the sweetness of the bourbon vanilla. Body is medium, carbonation is soft.

Sampled from a bottle. Lots of alcohol in the aroma, with bourbon and distinct vanilla aroma. Very sweet, too sweet really. The flavor is dominated by sweet malt and bourbon flavor. A well made beer, but I have the impression this was better before the bourbon aging.

On tap at Stub and Herbs. Pours a clear yellowish gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of grain and hay with a bit of grassiness. Flavor combines a dry grass and grain as well as a touch of hay.
