Sampled on nitro at Republic. Pours a clear amber with a creamy brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has sweet grains with a touch of darkness and toffee. Flavor has toffee and slightly dark grains throughout with a touch of butterscotch in the finish.

12 oz can @ home thanks to mista. Clear orange golden color, medium to full sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, lots of hops, some pine and resin. Taste malts, lots of hops, lightly resin and pine, moderate to heavy bitter but very well blended together with the fruit hops. Medium body, smooth but very suitable carbonation. Delicious!

Sampled at the In Cahoots 2014 event. Brown color with some red in the sunlight. Dry malt, bitter grain flavor. The aroma has some smoke, but this is not a rauchbier and the smoke character is very light. Still, very good beer.

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that recedes slowly. Clingy patches of lacing. Aroma of smoky malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt, earthy hops and slight fruit. The finish is smoky with a burnt malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 oz can purchased as a single at France 44 in Minneapolis. The pour is a slightly hazed orange golden with a brilliant and well formed 1/2 inch light tan head. Nice lace coats the glass. The aroma is caramel malt with fresh floral hops all in nice balance. The taste is crisp clean straight forward flavors of the nose (caramel malt and the floral hops). The palate is medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and mineral along with some gypsum almost metallic in the finish. Tasty, easy drinking beer.

12 oz can purchased at France 44 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pour is a slightly hazed brown copper black with a well formed 1 inch head. Nice retention on the head. The aroma is char roast along with a bit of vanilla. The taste is a pleasant blend of the char roast and soft sweet malt. Nut and pine come out as the beer warms. Simple, clean and nice. The palate is medium to light bodied with active soft carbonation and a char dry mineral finish. Tasty, glad I grabbed a six pack.
