Description
Set in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia, Blue Mountain opened in 2007 as the region’s first rural brewery. Founders Taylor and Mandi Smack and Matt Nucci had a vision to bring the brewery experience out of the normal hustle and bustle of an urban environment. Today, we’re still focused on making an inspired range of the highest-quality beers that can be enjoyed at our two locations in beautiful Nelson County, or in bottles and cans throughout Virginia and beyond.

Served on cask at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and peppery wood notes. Taste is oak including wood and peppery notes, caramel, toffee and a bitter hoppy finish. I was surprised to hear this was aged on madeira as it doesn’t come through at all, though the oak certainly makes its presence known.
