On tap at brewery. This is a scaled down version of the Full Nelson. The hops are a little less bitter and it lends to a creamier feel.

Bottle. Pours very dark, orangish-tinted black. Fizzy, cream colored head with decent lacing. Spicy, bready and hoppy aroma. This is very creamy. Subtle hops with a roasted coffee taste.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a straw color with a thin head, but good retention and decent lacing. Light aroma with notes of grass, grain and hops. Taste is very grainy and subtly bitter w/ noble hop notes. Slightly thin body but very pleasant and still highly drinkable. It’s my Blue Mountain standby.

1/5/2008:On tap at brewery. Pours crystal clear golden with good head. Strong taste of malty banana balanced with some spice. Straightforward for the style, but very nice nonetheless. 7/4/7/4/15/3.7 4/15/2008: FINALLY they bottled the stuff. 12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a pale copper tinted straw color with a small head. Little lacing. Aroma is spicy banana. Taste is pretty much the same. A little thin bodied, but very drinkable. 7/4/7/3/14/3.5

Batch 1. Before I even pour, the bourbon barrels really come though. Smells like a winery Pours near-black with a foamy brown-colored head. Bourbon comes through on the taste as well. Very creamy and smooth. Drinks like a wine. This is a hit 8/3/8/4/17/4.0.

Rerate: Batch 3 on draft at the brewery. Aged 131 days on Wild Turkey barrels. Dark brown color with thin but persistent head on the surface of the beer. Aroma of oak, vanilla, bourbon, pepper, chocolate. Bourbon and oak come through very strongly in the taste with notes of vanilla, maple, hop bitterness and a chocolate that grows in intensity as the beer warms. Smooth feel, medium body. 8/4/9/4/1/4.2

Rerate: Batch 3 bottled version from the brewery. Black pour with a minimal dark brown head. Very complex aroma of bourbon, oak, bread, vanilla, raisins. Taste is very oaky with strong bourbon and some vanilla. Lingering hops. Thick feel and very smooth. Subtlly astringent. 9/3/8/4/16/4.0

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market in Charlottesville, VA. Enjoy by 02/2009. Pours a clear copper color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing,. Aroma of toasted malts and grassy notes. Taste is toasted malts with bitter, grassy hops. Medium bodied.

slightly hazy golden body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet floral hop aroma. Sweet light honey aroma with a nice floral and grassy hop ending.

Bottle purchased at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville, VA for $1.80. Copper, bubbly, and an inch of white head. Citrus and pine hoppy aroma, with a teeny bit of malts in the nose. Very hoppy, with a grassy finish. Tasty!

On nitro tap at the brewpub on 01/17/2009. Dark black body with a large creamy tan head that persists. Dry roast and chocolate aroma. Chocolate and roast flavor. Light body with moderately low carbonation. 7/5/8/4/15 - 3.9 On tap at South Street Brewery on 10/28/2007. Opaque black body with ruby highlights, Large creamy light brown head that persists. Sweet roated malt and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a light bitter finish. Medium body with a very creamy mouthfeel. Remarkably smooth. 7/5/7/4/16 - 3.9

Bottle. Pours clear bronze with small, thick, persistent head. Lacing is good. Aroma of pine and citrus. Good hop taste without coming on too strong. Damn, did the brewery itself really open just two days ago? The wine coming out of Nelson County, Virginia is outstanding. Good to see that beer promises to be just as good.8/4/7/4/15

Rerate 9/6/08. This is their wet-hopped version of the beer. The brewery says there was no recipe change outside the wet-hopping, so, no new beer entry. Draft at the brewery. Hazy brownish red color with a one finger head. Aroma is malt-forward with big resin hop notes. Very bitter taste (the beer menu says 60 IBUs still, but I don’t believe them) with resinous hop notes, pine, citrus, other fruit notes and toffee. Spicy mouthfeel and medium to full body. 7/4/8/4/15
