Bottled from de Schans, Uithoorn. BB Febr 2012. Very dark brown color, medium, creamy, lasting brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, some chocolat, dark fruit. Quite dry, but also has a touch of sweetness to it. Quite bitter brew (from added bitter chocolat?). Plenty of flavor. Finishes quite dry again. Not perfect, but interesting.

Sampled @ PINT Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2012. Very dark brown color, orange / red glow coming through. Small off-white to beige head. Smell sour, cellar, musty and rubber. Taste is a lot better fortunately. Balanced sour hints mixed with herbs, malts and earth. Average carbonation, medium body.

33cL bottle purchased at Bierkoning on my Amsterdam trip and consumed at my hotel room in October, 2011. Serial # 595, best before 6/2/12. Pours with a small but long lasting brown head. Has a completely black body. Its a very dry and bitter imperial stout. The beer has a light body for what I have come to associate with an Imperial Stout. So, this tells you its a less American IS and more close to an English IS. Yet the bitterness seems to come equally from the malts and the hops, so some American influence. Some faint coffee in the aroma. A very easy drinking IS.

33cl Bottle at ’t Arendsnest. Name stands for Black Pale Ale. Flavour-wise it’s a Schwarzbier. Clear deep reddish brown colour, slightly off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, light coffee, soft caramel, light floral notes. Flavour is light sweet, roasted malts, soft caramel, chocolate, slightly bitter roasted finish. Light bodied. A bit overcarbonated, but tasty.

Bottled from de Schans. Very dark brown color, medium brown head. Aroma of some roasted barley, dark malts, hint of vanilla. Hint of lactic, and I would think this as a sweet stout actually. Taste is on the sweeter side, with the roastyness more in the background. Pretty smooth and creamy palate. Good stuff actually.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Slightly hazy dark amber colour, creamy off white head. Aroma is floral, caramel, fruity, white grapes, light roasted malts, phenols, sharp alcohol. Flavour is toffee, light spicy, floral, toasted malts, dried fruits, alcohol, sharp finish. Medium bodied, soft mouthfeel. A bit harsh, but tasty. Could be the same beer as Schans HDB.
