An orange beer with a good though collapsing head. The flavor is malty sweet with notes of oranges and cloves. The alcohol runs prickling over the tongue before it ends on a dry note. The body is somewhat thin - especially considering the 6% ABV.

The beer is very lively. The aroma is lovely of strawberries, hops, and oranges. The color is an unclear red and it has no head. The flavor is a light strawberry that turns slightly bitter in the end with strawberries and a dryness that lingers.

(2002 vintage) Very dark brown, nearly black; dark brown head, irregular. Very fruity nose, bark spices, rosemary, bit of wood, esters en some alcohol. Very stoutlike taste; bit of chocolate, definitely cigar (both -ash + -tobacco). Touch of salt, good dash of liquorice. Faint spices. Excellent balance. Very well-bodied, faint alcoholburn. Touch of end-acidity, giving even some refreshment. Excellent winterale; more than worth looking for.

Cloudy brown color, short brown head. Aroma is black chocolate, some rye and roasted malts. Taste is a bit creamy, chocolat, roasted malts. Creamy palate. Again a nice brew by de Schans!

Very dark brown and hazy; bulbous collapsing dense, stout-like head, brownish. Very syrupy and fruity nose, as crème de cassis; also a bit grainy, not specific wheat, bit of molasses and nutty. Bread-like taste, quite some acidity; again very porter/stout like. Blueberry taste, slightly smokey bitterness, specially in the finish. Very thick mouthfeel on the verge of syrupy. Do not search for Dunkel Weizen specs here. A Weizenbock comes closer, though usually stronger than 6%. This beer has a lot of stout-like qualities, or even a very heavy mild. But this is made with wheat. Quite interesting.

Deep black color, medium brown frothy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and licorice. Taste is more a combination between a stout and a schwarzbier i guess, though nicely balance of the roasted malts and sweetness. Full and smooth palate indeed skortila. Very nice.

2004 vintage. Dark color, big head. Aroma is of roasted malts, raisin, some chocolate notes, creamy almost. Taste is indeed like stouty, roasted malts, complex character of fruits and malts. A bit bitter palate, but also lingering maltiness. Very nice!

Dutch ratebeer meeting. Clear orange-brown coloured, small head. Caramel malts in aroma, blackberry. Malty taste, bitter, bit sharp palate and warming finish. Nice!

Amber colour, generous head. Nice sweet aroma of malt, caramalt, hop, wallnuts. Harmonious mouth of malt and hop. Dry and bitter finish, with good caramalt and hop. When warmer, it gets sweeter, maltier, and of course also the caramel raises. Not outstanding, but fully enjoyable, to try again.
