Is this my first beer from J Wakefield? I'd have to check but I think it is. Poured from the can, looking low carb, took some vigor to produce a head but it did in fact make a modest layer of very fine beige bubbles. Nose is big on smoke and roasted malt with chocolate and molasses. The low carbonation feels velvety in the mouth, where the molasses sugars combine with a light acrid smoky bite. Fairly modest body makes this quite drinkable, happy about that. Semi-sweet to balanced, there aren't much hop flavors but there is a firm bitterness balancing out the finish. I would like this on cask. I might hope for more smoke but really its fine as is.

Can. Pours hazy orange, medium off white head, good lacing. Aroma is banana, wheat, dust. Flavor follows, light sweet, minimal bitterness. I get zero coconut. Light plus body. Good hef tho.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark golden orange, hazy, lasting creamy white head, lacing. Peachy aroma, stone fruit and citrus. Taste is sweet, fruity, juicy, peaches, oranges culminating in a light buzzy bitterness that lingers. Heavy weight, thick.

pours black, small white head. Scent is roasty, sweet, chocolate. taste is full, sweet, chocolate intense wakefield typical character. A bit more sweet and simple than expected though. Some vanilla, mild to hidden on the oreo. Good - but not great.

Pours black, no real head. Scent is fairly mild. Roasty, bourbon. taste is full, roasty, bit soy, sharp bourbon. Rather boozy. Very decent, not JWB-great though.

Pours black, small to no tanned head. Scent is full, chocolate, typical JWB, but mild on the barrel - almost hidden even. taste is fairly bitter for JWB, Sharp bourbon boozyness. Almost rye-like spicyness (Rye bourbon, perhaps?) . not the best JWB, bit still a more than decent beer.

A collaborative Imperial Stout with Barrel Theory Beer Company in Saint Paul, MN, laid to rest in Pappy 10 Year and Prichards Chocolate Rye Barrels, then we went full fluff and conditioned it on Marshmallows, Vanilla, Peanuts and Cocoa Nibs.
