Description
Fate brought us together at Hawkshead Brewery and in a short time it became clear we shared a passion for great beer and many ideals. After being made redundant at the beginning of lockdown restrictions in March 2020. Matt, Michelle, Steve & Paul reunited as Lakes Brew Co. Bringing together the shared ambition to be one of Cumbria’s progressive, sociably innovative breweries. With a strong ethos of support and collaboration, through the beers we produce and the team we surround ourselves with – engrained in our locality.
Adversity lit a flame within us to create something for ourselves, take control of our own futures and build a brewery that we are happy to be involved in. The end of July 2022 marks the first year of brewing for us. We have been so lucky to be able to carry on doing what we are passionate about, not only brewing but in the area that feeds us inspiration on a daily basis. Creating innovative & progressive craft beers in the Lake District and proud to be an inclusive, independent, woman co-owned business where everyone is welcome.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 14/09/2025.
Hazed orange topped with a lasting just off white head.
Nose is orange zest, grass, melon, light herb, citric tinged straw.
Taste comprises grapefruit, light pine needle, melon, mixed tropicana.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying spiked with juicy come lightly resinous hop bitterness.
Tidy enough DIPA.

Can. A mild haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head that doesn't last. Light and semi dry palate, a good fine minerally crispness. Light bodied pale malts, a fairly forward creamy sweetness. Crisp cooling pine. A bit of boxy bitterness and fair old hop spice chomp. Light crisp citrus, a little skunk. Crisp semi dry finish. Bright and hoppy but lacks a modicum of overall coherence for me.

Can, picked up from the nearby Co-Op on the 2011 Snow Hill to High Wycombe, 05/09/2025.
Moderately hazed golden orange topped with a lasting just off white covering that thins to a swirl.
Nose is ripe tropical fruit esters, guava, stone fruit ripple, pine needle.
Taste comprises grass, stone fruit, pine resin, lychee, more pronounced NZ hop presence.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close spliced with punchy danko come resinous kwi fuelled hop bitterness.
Solid for a supermarket pale.

Windermere was the closest of the waters to me in the Lake District when I bought this one. Hazy as expected, with a full tropical fruit and pine infused aroma and taste. There's plenty of strength noticeable in here too. Full-bodied.
