The world's youngest island is less than 18 months old, close to Iwo Jima in the Pacific, formed by underwater volcanic activity. This Fire Island has less activity about it, but is filling my time between trains at Leeds. Hop-malt balance, slightly more of the former despite the deeper appearance suggesting possibly the latter.

Cask at Briar Rose, Birmingham. Clear amber with a nice creamy white top and good lacing. This one had a bready malt character with some toffee, and berry fruitiness. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Decent.

Half at the Spoons in Tunbridge Wells. I needed food so don't judge me. Malt, some bittering hops and not much else. I would describe it as a bit watery. Not great, but this is my 5th beer of the evening....

Cask handpull at The County Hotel JDW Ashford. Clear russet colour lasting beige head. Good red fruit malty flavour. Good red ale. Some spice on the finish so I guess it has some rye malt. Excellent condition and temperature. I mean really good. Very drinkable. Well worth a 2nd pint

Bottle from Home Bargains, Salford. Golden with a frothy head. Hoppy with a light tasting easy texture, and some creamy-fruits for flavour.
