Description
With the creation of Village brewery De Meester we want to re-establish the tradition of artisan brewing in Kuurne. Our beers are brewed solely according to the traditional brewing processes, with the greatest care and only with natural raw materials. For our beers, we use hop flowers from Poperinge exclusively and refrain for using nor colour pigments, nor foam improvers, nor artificial seasonings. The result of this traditional work methods are the beers of Village brewery De Meester. Beers with character, interwoven with aromas from the different local hops.

Bottle shared at tasting. Clear pale golden color, no head. Aroma and flavor are lightly malts, a hint of tart, fruit peel. Meh. Not a fan at all.

330ml. Opaque colour, small brownish head. Roasted vanilla bourbon aroma, dominated by wood and alcohol from whiskey. Medium to full-bodied. Robust roasted flavour, lots of bourbon, sweetness but not overly sweet, wood, warming, spicey alcohol. Good, some potential for ageing.

Near clear amber brown beer, small tan head. Nose is a savoury orange brandy type thing. Smooth, soft and very slightly viscous palate, reasonable fine carbonation, perfect for this style. Soft malts, nice pillowy creamy sweet malts, good touches of caramel and toffee that are far less sweet. Touch of oak induced vanilla but also a nice savoury wet barrel vibe. Lovely ripe sticky candy fruits from the Tokaij barrel. Dried fruits. Mild alcohol spice on the back end. A lovely layered and hugely quaffable barleywine.

Rusty tan head over pitchblack beer. Vanilla, Bourbon, cocos, banana; very little roast in the nose. Slight bitterness, roast, on top of sweet vanilla-Bourbon-booze. Again (ripe) banana. Slight stout acidity. Quite well bodied, lots of alcoholburn, light alcoholthinning. Oily, chewy, rich. Not too vanilla-ish. Still, I would prefer it a tad drier. Txs to Stef!

A very mild haze on this deep amber beer, small bubbly tan head that never really forms a proper head. Palate is smooth and mildly viscous, reasonable fine carbonation which for me, is just fine for a barleywine. Smooth malts bring a good rich toffee and malt cream vibe, not that sweet but not devoid of sweetness either. Punchy and rather splendid Calvados, juicy ripened apple with that brandy spicy goodness. A little brighter floral apple on the back end. Smooth and spicy finish, mildly bitter. Good BA BW. The barrelling is bold but never subdues the malt base. Dangerously drinkable.
