Draft at the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel bar. Nose is light roasty coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Extremely dark brown with a big, heavy lacing, tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with lots of chocolate from the fairly viscous body of an ale which is only 4.4% ABV.

600 mL bottle pour. Reddish copper pour, with a lasting patchy head. Much thanks to my Dad for the thoughts when visiting Scotland. A slight rich malt aroma. Flavor is a dusty malt front, rich caramel, and a lingering bitter dry finish. Better than expectations, and full of flavor. Tasty beer here overall.

Bottle at the Winking Owl, Aviemore. Appearance - cloudy amber. Decent head. Nose - honey, light lemon. Brown bread at the back. Taste - more citrus, bread and honey, of course. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - good.
