Description
Tampa Bay Brewing Company is one of Florida’s first & premier Craft Breweries. TBBC opened at the tail end of the last "Micro-Brew" Boom. Our philosophy then and now is simple: Brew beer we love to drink! Thank goodness there were plenty of like-minded people around to support our endeavor. Today, TBBC thrives within the incredible brewing community of Tampa, Florida which was once just a two brewery town...we were lonely back then! We currently operate an Ybor Brewpub and a Production Brewery in the northern part of Tampa. We are organically growing distribution with the end goal of being a Florida only brand with a driving vision of Beer Crafted for the Florida Lifestyle. Cheers!

on tap pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet spicy malt and brown sugar. Sweet licorice and bready malts lots of yeast character. Nice, but the barrel really isn’t adding anything for me.

Aroma was rather muted. flavors, nice warming malty/caramel mouthfeel, some fresh hops coupled with light roast. Dark fruits, fig and brown sugar. Beer had a nice sweet butterscotch finish coating the palate mixed with a nice hoppy finish, not overly bitter, overall it remains on the sweet side.

On tap at the brewpub pouring up deep dark chocolate brown with tan head and fading quickly ring of foam. The mild aroma brings up mostly prunes and dates as well as a faint sense of dark roasted malts. Why do TBBC brewed beers always have such a light aroma? Maybe it is the appearance of this brew but the very first flavor note I get is chocolate. That note is quickly followed by prunes, dates and brown sugar sweetness. To midway dark roasted malts and chocolate brownie surge forward and head into the finish supported by the additional note of a pleasing yet thin layer of molasses. The robust prunes, dates and figs really dominate the flavor while the sweet and roasty malts seem to be playing a flavorful supporting role. This has come together very nicely. Well done. I wish the aroma was a little, ok, a lot fuller.

This was a beer engine pull right out of the whiskey barrel set up at the bar and right into my pint glass looking to be deep gold in body with dry hop haze and lasting tight light tan head and some sheet lacing. I don’t know how they managed to serve this so darn cold from a barrel and beer engine. The aroma is a mix of citrus, vanilla, oak and some sweet orange hard candy. The mouth feel is creamy bringing in an interesting array of notes like sweet citrus and vanilla as well as growing grapefruit and pine hop bitterness. Toward the finish light notes of oak and whiskey join in with the rest of the notes. The after taste is pretty long carrying grapefruit, orange peel and oak. Very tasty stuff.

Straight from the barrel with a hand pull. Light amber/copper, beige head. Aroma hopped up, light whiskey notes, wood, enjoyable citrus notes, hints of vanilla and malts. Flavor, lightly hoppy, whiskey/wood, vanilla notes. Amazing hop balance and malts, citrusy hops meshed together with the good vanilla and warming whiskey palate. Second beer using the Jack Daniels barrel and another outstanding brew.

Small batch, made once and really a nice approach to the style. Served in chalice, pours cloudy orange, thin white head. Aroma was very fruity, lots of sugar and a light herbal, limit medicinal cough drop. Flavor, lots of fruits, yeast strain gave it a tropical approach with hints of mangoes/orange.Light hops and malts, with herbs; chamomile and three kinds of sugar used in this one, light/brown and dark cane sugar. Definitely something about this beer, nice finish, herbal mix adds a lot of sweetness, sugars are present as well and finish has a good warming floral/herbal abv clocking at 11.2%.

On tap infused with CO2 straight out of the barrel at TBBC. Pretty cool. It pours up amber with a bit of haze and lasting tan head. The aroma has nice vanilla notes, some coconut, oak, a touch of earthiness and sweet malts. The taste begins sweet with malts, nuttiness and vanilla creating a very sweet start. It then blends into some oak and booze to help dry it out and lean the flavor balance just a bit away from full on sweetness. The barrel notes begins to really overshadow the beer but the sweet full body persists creating a slick smooth mouthfeel for a barrel aged beer.
