Description
Tampa Bay Brewing Company is one of Florida’s first & premier Craft Breweries. TBBC opened at the tail end of the last "Micro-Brew" Boom. Our philosophy then and now is simple: Brew beer we love to drink! Thank goodness there were plenty of like-minded people around to support our endeavor. Today, TBBC thrives within the incredible brewing community of Tampa, Florida which was once just a two brewery town...we were lonely back then! We currently operate an Ybor Brewpub and a Production Brewery in the northern part of Tampa. We are organically growing distribution with the end goal of being a Florida only brand with a driving vision of Beer Crafted for the Florida Lifestyle. Cheers!

Pours clear deep gold to copper with light tan head. The light aroma is malty sweetness that has hints of fruitiness like dates and un-ripe banana. The malts also smell somewhat caramel like along with a faint spiciness. The flavor is similar with a short blast of malt sweetness up front followed quickly by date and slight banana fruitiness. Midway the malts show up again with chewy pale maltiness then a bit of caramel followed by faint spiciness. Very nice intro into the fall season.

On tap @ brewery. Pours a clear deep copper with somewhat creamy tan head. The aroma is sweet with caramelized malts, malt astringency and pale malts. The taste hits first with a streak of malt astringency that ties into roasted malts, a hint of caramelized malts, faint chocolate malts and mild charred – burnt – cindered malt dust. That last part could be the chocolate malts I taste. This seems to be a nice brown. The malt astringency has its place but here it could be slightly reduced. But that may be getting too picky.

Pours a clear deep copper with almost frothy like tan head. Excellent lacing. The weak aroma starts off with sugary malt sweetness followed by caramelized malts. The aroma is just too light. I can hardly really smell anything. The taste starts mild and neutral. The beer is too cold at this point. Then semi sweet roasted malts enter the picture along with a hint of astringency. Also I get a mild hop bitterness in the background. As it reaches room temperature a mild malty fruitiness wells up from the depths. Overall a mild tasting brew.

On tap @ brewery. Pours a watery looking clear gold with decent enough bright white head. The aroma is very light with vague sweetness and a faint floral hop note. The taste starts sweet and malty from lightly roasted malts. Then the floral hops grow in strength and mix with the sweetness. This mixture seems to create an almost soapy flavor. The hops gradually become more and more bitter toward the finish. I still sense a slight soapiness into the after taste. It may just be the malt and hop combination creating this flavor on my palate. As more and more ounces are consumed a nice malty flavor starts to shine through and tipping the balance of sweet malts and hops away from that bit of soapiness I sensed.

My first “mug club” pour. Too bad I can’t see the color of the beer. I imagine its pretty darn dark. That was later verified once the light and dark (multi colored) brown head dissipated. I smell sweet malt to molasses and oddly sweet smelling burnt malts. I also get a big dose of dark fruitiness too. The flavor starts with sweet dark fruitiness like dates and shriveled plums and also sweet molasses. There is a burnt malt note in there but I can feel it struggling to peek out from behind the dark fruit and molasses.

Poured clear gold with off white head. This beer has a big sweet smelling aroma. Smells like sweet sugary not so caramel-like caramel candy. Really seems to smell like a taffy candy store. Behind that aroma is sweet vanilla and light hints of ripe banana. I also kind of get a sense of a cream soda odor. The first impression as the beer hits my taste buds is that it isn’t really too sweet as I was expecting. I get a bit of acidity that’s kind of lemon like. Then some banana and yeast spiciness seem to wipe away the initial taste. By midway the sweetness grows into a strong sugar to brown sugar taste. Overall nice tasting beer.

Finally got around to drinking and rating this one. Poured graphite black with creamy wavy light brown head out of the nitro tap. Nice lacing is left clinging to the glass. The aroma is on the light side with a mix of burnt malts slight astringency and molasses. If I pull enough aroma into my nose I start to get some chocolate notes. The flavor starts off mild until a dull burnt malts hit with a slight sweetness. As the taste progresses the burnt malts become more pronounced. Midway a hint of vanilla surfaces briefly. Just as the vanilla vanishes a chocolate note joins in. Nice session stout.

Pours deep deep copper, nearly amber with thin white head. The aroma is rather wort like before the hops are added. But overall its very light. The flavor is sweet roasted malts, faint hint of biscuit and the lightest bitter hop presence around the edges. There may also be a slight smoky flavor to it.

Draft at brewery. 10.4% ABV. Pours reddish copper with thin off white ring of foam. I get almost no aroma. The flavor is malty sweet and sugary and maybe a touch of caramel. Above midway the caramel and the alcohol flavor meet and mix to create an almost medicine note that only grows worse as more beer is consumed. Overall this beer doesn’t work for me.

Draft at brewery. Slightly hazy yellow color with thin white head. Nice aroma of banana, some light malt sweetness and bubble gum. The flavor starts kind of tart and becomes more and more sweet. There’s some malt sweetness that gives way to a sweet banana flavor. Near the finish I taste a lemony citrus hop note.
