Cask at Brew Wharf - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a modest, off-white bubble froth. Lots of raw hops in here, moderately sweet and lightly toasted malts, flowers, grainy bread. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mild hoppy resins to finish, further toasty bread, pine. OK.

Cask at the brew pub. Clear amber beer with a tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. A rich but light malt base. Rye spice and bitter toffee goes very well with the bitter hops. Orange peel.and hop spice. Brief flash of tropical fruits sweetens things up before a semi dry finish. More cask goodness from Ang.

Cask at Brewharf, Stoney Street, Borough, Southwark, London in company of Loz & Ang, Saturday 26th October 2013 Pours black with some glints of red, Amongst the blizzard of hops on the nose I also get some sweaty socks. Lovely tasting beer with grapefruit showing, it is bitter, really bitter, dry and furiously bitter and like the standard version this leaves a furriness on the roof of my mouth, however like the other version I marginally prefer the Hopfather 2 but Loz is also totally won over by this. Cask at Brewharf, Stoney Street, Southwark, London in company of Loz & Ang, Saturday 14th December 2013 Pours mid brown. To start with there is a good hoppy bite, in fact a nice little sting from the hops. The bitterness runs and the rye adds a nice slant, juicy with a citrus edge, this is very pleasant with a good bittersweet balance. Like it. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

33cl bottle, from AlesByMail. No bb or bottle number found. Poured black, almost flat, small bubbles, no head. Citrus hoppy aroma, wood, licorice comes at you first. Flavor has roastedness, salty licorice, hops, coffee. Wow, really flavorful! Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Long finish, dry bitter with coffee and licorice. Also some almondy notes. Great brew.
