Description
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a very hazy orange color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pumpkin and pumpkin spices. The taste is pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and very faint citrus and wheat. Thin-medium bodied. Pretty generic but not bad.

$1.95 for the single bottle. Enjoyed in a tulip. Dark burnt orange. Minimal head. heavy on the cloves and brown sugar. Hints of pumpkin. Hint of pumpkin at the start. Dry very earthy bavarian german yeast taste. Not too satisfying.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours hazy pale golden with small white head that dissapates quickly. Nice thin small bubble lacing, medium carbonation, thin body, and light lemon aroma. Taste is grainy wheat and lemon. OK for what it is.

12 oz. bottle. Pour hazy butterscotch with a medium, rocky, beige head. The aroma is lemon peels, hay, mild cheese, and dust. The flavor is mildly bitter and faintly sour. The palate is light, a little grainy, and clean. Overall, this is a mediocre beer, with very little flavor or complexity.

Budwewiser by any other name is still a Budweiser. Bland! The look of this beer is the only saving grace, it resembles a Belgian witbier, but once you taste it, you’ll notice it’s not. Not impressed...

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy orange with a slight off-white head. Smells like a frickin wit. Med body. Starts a little hoppy and then the wit ingredients wipe that. The word disgusting came to my mind.

Golden coloured body with a thinnish slightly off-white head. Aroma of pure lemons, unfinished sugars and a bit of yeast. Light-bodied; Airy, very acidic flavour with lemons obviously on the forefront, with some malt, wheat, coriander seed and funk on the end. Aftertaste is light and very very sweet - only some citric flavours cut the sweetness. Overall, not such a great beer - as expected, but if you wanted a sweet, slightly sour beer for the summertime, available at your local corner store around every city in this fine country and you have yourself an option. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle given to me after a hockey game in Arlington, Virginia on 18-July-2012.

Hazy nice copper coloured body with a dense, slightly soapy off-white head about four centimetres tall - a nice look for a beer from AB. Aroma of pale malt, no hops, no wheat, no traditional characteristics - just a smell of a plain lager with perhaps a bit more unfinished sugars. Light to Medium-bodied; Slightly soapy flavour with some sugars, malt and a very very small amount of stale hops that barely have any alpha acids left. Aftertaste shows a mild yeastiness, some malt and just about nothing else. Aftertaste is just as bland with no wheat nor IPA flavours lingering, just some alcohol and a bit of funk. Overall, a pretty bad offering, and when the only thing good to say about is that it wasn’t horribly offensive, you’ve got a beer that you don’t need to search out and find. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 28-May-2012 for US$1.15 sampled at home in Washington on 12-July-2012.

bottle - Pours very pale, cloudy yellow with a small, white, fizzy head. It has a mild lemon aroma and a sweet, lemony flavor. It’s thin, bland, and kind of refreshing, but water is refreshing and it’s a lot cheaper.

Tap @ Malone’s. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are apricot, wheat malt and hops. A little artificial.
