Description
Brixton Brewery is one of London’s established craft breweries, making beer in the heart of one of London’s most colourful and famous neighbourhoods. We were founded in 2013 by two local couples, Jez and Libby and Mike and Xochitl, but our shared passion for beer started years before that, when we met in the old Hive Bar (now Craft Beer Co. Brixton), and bonded over newborn babies, and a dream of opening a brewery. We reckoned that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery, and we wanted to bring one to Brixton.

In 2017 Brixton Brewery announced the biggest news in its short history. That it had partnered with Heineken UK in a deal that would enable the business to open a second site in Brixton, boost capacity nearly tenfold from its 3,000hl site to up to 30,000hl, and significantly grow its team as a result.

As per 2021, Brixton is 100% owned by Heineken.

Brixton now only carry out small-scale brewing. Production brewing moved to Beavertown in September 2024.

Bottle picked up from Oddbins, Baker St/Marylebone, London. Consumed at home, Sunday 2nd November 2014. Cloudy golden with a slim white head, almost an orangey glow. Aroma hoppy but also a little gluey. Pretty good pale ale with a little furryness at the perimiter, middling bitterness Soft in mouth a little peachy and with a dab of pine. 330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, amber colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Piney and minimally citrusy hoppy aroma, some pineapple, a touch of grapefruit. Taste is primarily sweet-ish caramel malty, bitter hoppy background has a medicinal touch, Aspirin, not the kind of bitterness you look for in an IPA. Below average.

Bottle picked up at Jack’s, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed Saturday 25th October 2014 at Wallingford Bridge Villa Campsite. Pours amber, in fact a careless final pour has made it really much cloudier, the actual colour is light/mid gold with filmy white head. Lots of grapefruit, really pushy bitter bite and wonderfully citrussy throughout, love it, brill! A8 A3 T9 P4 Ov17. 4.1
