Description
Brixton Brewery is one of London’s established craft breweries, making beer in the heart of one of London’s most colourful and famous neighbourhoods. We were founded in 2013 by two local couples, Jez and Libby and Mike and Xochitl, but our shared passion for beer started years before that, when we met in the old Hive Bar (now Craft Beer Co. Brixton), and bonded over newborn babies, and a dream of opening a brewery. We reckoned that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery, and we wanted to bring one to Brixton.

In 2017 Brixton Brewery announced the biggest news in its short history. That it had partnered with Heineken UK in a deal that would enable the business to open a second site in Brixton, boost capacity nearly tenfold from its 3,000hl site to up to 30,000hl, and significantly grow its team as a result.

As per 2021, Brixton is 100% owned by Heineken.

Brixton now only carry out small-scale brewing. Production brewing moved to Beavertown in September 2024.

Bottle, from Sourced, split with Yespr on the train to Hostelboro, 28/02/14. Hazed orange amber with a moderate light beige head. Nose is mandarin, bitter grapefruit, caramel, earthy hop notes. Taste comprises dankish hops, red grapefruit, pithy citrics, caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a little hop bitterness. So so, a little clumsy in the make up.

Very hazy amber beer, small white head. Light dry palate, a little crisp. Dry pale malt. Odd mixture of hops here, grapefruit pith, subtle skunk integrated with soap and apple flavours. Astringent finish. Messy!

6th February 2014
Hazy amber beer, good white head. Palate is light and airy and slightly crisp. Hops are a little odd! There is a limey tang, a little floralness and then a skewed skunky flavour that isn’t quite soap but is getting there! Light finish. Passable. Just.

Bottle from Sourced Market St Pancras, drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Almost a rum like stout aroma. Perhaps that’s just association. OK stout. Interesting malt flavour not just your straight up chocolate and coffee, some molasses in there and figs and dates. Decent.

Bottle at home, from Sourced, 02/02/14. Murka-Haze orange light amber with a moderate off white head that stops to watch you. Nose is orange, light tropicals, bread dough, light toasty malt, faint floral tones. Taste comprises earthy minerals, orange pith, light dirt, faint apricot, grassy, dank hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grassy closure with light tropicana. Decent golden blond, just a bit too light for an APA but not far off, good chalky mineral dankness about this one.
