*** CZECH BEER # 500 *** bottle from Billa Namesti republiky, the last bottle tucked away in a crate of Gambrihnus. Clear deep golden colour, persistent white head, nice hoppy nose. Bitter-sweet. Good, solid malty base with a decent portion of Saaz hops. Bitter-sweet, typical Czech flavour. A good 11°! *** CZECH BEER # 500 *** ČESKÉ PIVO JE NEJLEPŠÍ *** AT’ ŽIJE TO PRAVÉ ČESKÉ PIVO *** NA ZDRAVÍ ***

Bottle. Pours black with a small crema head. Aroma has treacle, milky sourness and percolated coffee. Taste has burnt malt, coffee, condensed milk. Mixture of roasted and coffee bitterness in a finish that is also a little ashy. Nice smooth mouthfeel and I like the sour notes, but I found the sweetness a bit artificial.

Labeled as Primator Maibock. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a huge orange-white head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was sweet, malty and sour with notes of cherry, apple and bread. The flavor was tangy, sour, nutty and moderately bitter and dry. There were light undertones of caramel, licorice, floral hops and almost skunk. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

500ml bottle. Amber, light beige head. Aroma of rich caramel, a bit of toast, touches of earth and grass. Taste has caramel, but it’s not all that sweet. Hazelnuts and some dry sherry. A little sourness. Quite pronounced bitterness at the finish features some metal. Not really my sort of thing but rather good. [3.1]Trying again, this time on purpose. I bought the one above expecting a pilsener (ignorant as I am). Then I bought another by accident, enjoyed it rather more and was surprised to later look at my rating (the description’s OK, the score’s not). This is lovely: a balanced, tasty and gluggable drop.

Bottle, 4.4%. Weak vegetable aroma. Almost clear golden colour. Very small white head. OK flavour, rough bitterness, but drinkable. Does not taste "Dia" as such.

Bottle, 4.7%. Clear dark golden colour. Big frothy white head. The flavour starts off very bitter, even unpleasant. Mellows out after a few sips.
