Description
This is how it all began; this is the heart of our history. Sir Gerald Wight, founder of the Caribbean Development Company (CDC), ensured that the production process, which was based on the European-Continental method of brewing with our own twist, was mastered before the company’s flagship beverage, Carib Lager Beer was sold in 1950. In fact CDC still produces the perfect lager today because our formula continues to include the best ingredients, unwavering quality and constant innovation.

Today Carib Brewery boasts a portfolio that includes Beer, Malt, Stout and Soft Drinks. We produce Carib, Carib Light, Stag, Pola and Pola Light, Shandy Carib, Mackeson and Guinness as well as the following nonalcoholic brands; Ginseng-Up, Malta Carib, Malta Carib Ultra, Smalta Smalta Smiles – over 1,200,000 hectoliters of product every year.

Our acute insight into what our consumers enjoy has also inspired us to form partnerships with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Diageo and Ginseng Up Corporation. As a result Heineken, Guinness Stout, Ginseng Up and Smirnoff Ice are also part of our portfolio.

Boring foam gone fast, carbonated medium gold body. Soft cardboard and rotting hay on the nose. Flavour is rancid cabbage mixed with cornmeal and it all lingers on the tongue. I can usually tolerate the regular Carib when it's extra chilled and I'm really thirsty but this light version is all sorts of wrong. Bottle found in St. Kitt's.

Smells of strong sweet ginger, pours soft copper with yellow hints. Flavour is sugary ginger soda. Mouthfeel has cloying sweetness. It's not bad as a soda with maybe a hint of beer in there but I can't detect it.

Pours clear carbonated gold, no foam, heavy soda pop carbonation. Smells of strong sweet lime with maybe a vague grain hint. Flavour is medium grain and strong sweet lime, mouthfeel is cloying sugar. This is okay lime shandy, still very much soda pop though.

Pours with carbonated clear red and soft pink foam, smells of strong sweet sorrel on the nose. Flavour is more sorrel, beer not detected. It's okay soda pop but missing the beer element.

Bottle at Hemingway Café in St. John's, Antigua. Has okay bleach white head and clear medium gold body, aroma is soft sweet lager hops and some grain . Flavour is vague lemon, cardboard and grain. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing when cool at least. This is your usual boring tropical lager, but drinkable.

Bottle from Tesco Supermarket, Borehamwood. Peach-golden with no head and a small carbonation. Is pretty much what it says, it's a shandy with some lime flavouring, and not much alcohol.

19/11/2019. Bottle, sample, courtesy of SHIG, cheers Shawn. Pours clear very pale gold with minimal head. Aroma of root ginger and sweet potato. Medium sweet ginger taste, touch of ginger spice heat but not a lot. Light body, slight sticky and watery texture, above average carbonation. Not bad actually.

Can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks Tom. Crystal clear gold. Aroma is light toasted grain, corn husks. Flavor has a touch more malt sweetness then the standard pale lager. Not overly sweet yet... as I drink all I taste is corn. Not good.
