Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Dror. As Marks & Spencer Yorkshire Bitter. Hazy amber to light brown. Aroma of malt, biscuits, some fruitiness and light floral notes. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, biscuit notes, some fruitiness and a drier finish. Medium-bodied.

On tap at the Magpie, New Street. Light haze on this gold beer. Small cream head. Semi dry palate, smooth. Very tangy orange marmalade with traces of spice and bubblegum. Some sweeter orange before a long bitter finish. Not bad but the tangyness starts to grate after half a pint. Respectable though.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 27 Nov 2010) Dark amber colour with brief head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, orange, toast and marmalade. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, citrus, orange marmalade and generous amounts of citrussy hops in a bittersweet finish. More than medium body, with some malt sweetness throughout. Good balance between the citrussy hops and the solid malt backbone. Very nice.

Bottled (thanks omhper). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is coffee, liquorice, some roasted malts, mild ashes as well as some mild toasted and tarry notes. Flavour is roasted malts, some toast, mild toffee as well as some hops and mild notes of fudge.

Bottled. Very black, small beige head. Chocolate sauces with lemon and coffee. Dryish with relatively slim body and clean mouthfeel. Some cocoa and molasses, slight lemon. Salty finish. Not great.

Bottle @ Papsø-Grand-Tasting, September 2010. Pours dark brown with a small creamy beige head and lacings. Nose is roast and soy. Dry and roasted malty flavor. Medium bodied. Dry coffee end.

500 bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours really dark brown with a foamy 2 finger darkish tan head. Smells like stout! Medium body with sharp, foamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth burnt malt with some chocolate and coffee. Maybe a little dark fruit. Finishes smooth, dry and somewhat bitter. Put it in a scotch barrel for 2 years!

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark hazy amber with a coarsely foamy 3 finger beige head. Aroma is a mix of honey, cooked raisins, brown sugar and perhaps citrus. Quite a mixed nose. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly toasted brown sugar, some darkish fruit, and I’d say citrus. It’s changing from sip to sip - it has a fresh aspect - fresh cooked fruit? not raw fruit. That honey nose is off and on. Not the best ale inthe world, but rewarding.
