Bottle as present from my brother – drank at home. Pours a dark burgundy with a small, transient tan head. Lots of malts and dark plumy fruits in the aroma plus hints of treacle and chocolate. In the mouth it is slightly sharp with a creamy glaucous texture. Flavour is very malty with dark fruits, golden syrup and bread crusts. Alcoholic strength becomes noticeable later. Finish is sweet, spicy and somewhat boozy. This is really rather nice.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy, hazy amber color. Slight head, not alot of carbonation. This is not a Barley Wine. I would say it is a Strong English Ale. Anyway, taste like a nice English ale. Smells like a nice English ale. If it walks like a duck.......

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby with off white head. Aroma is somewhere between toffee and treacle with a light roast, chocolate and dark fruits. Taste has a bold malt character, toffee, some dark fruit and marmalade with quite bitter hopping in the finish. Medium bodied, semi-dry and warming. Decent depth to this but at 6% and being greedy I would have liked a bit more.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear copper with a bubbly, off-white head. Light sweet flavour with notes of toasted malts, earth, berries, modest leafy hops. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Decent balance to finish, more toasted malts, brown bread, semi-ripe berries. Drinks fine.

Amber beer, thick off white head. Aroma.is malty with a little bittersweet fruit. Flavour has big fruity notes, lots of malt and a gentle happiness. A warm booziness to it though the other flavours sadly don't quite cover up the alcohol flavour but that forest kill it. Decent stuff, verging more toward something like a strong ale than a bitter

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Clear ruby body with a creamy beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of treacle, varnished wood and prune. Flavour of earthy hops and burnt caramel. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This rich ale looks, smells and tastes very nice indeed. Not too dissimilar to Broadside.
