Description
Hammerton Brewery is a microbrewery based in Islington brewing small batch beers with the aim to bring great tasting beer back to the borough and also re-establish the Hammerton Brewery name in London.
Hammerton Brewery originally began brewing in London in 1868. Sadly it ceased to brew in the late 1950s and was later demolished. In 2014, a member of the Hammerton family decided to resurrect the family name in brewing. It also brings brewing back to Islington, a London borough with a great beer making heritage.

Can from Beer52. Pours dark brown/near black with small beige head. Aroma of biscuit, chocolate, some roast, sweet vanilla. Taste of chocolate biscuits and a dry roastiness followed by a sweet vanilla and nuttiness. Not overly sweet so quite balanced. Medium bodied, fairly smooth. Not exactly layers of flavour here but still tasty.

330ml can from Beer52 subscription box. Black pour with moderate sized beige head, settles to a nice creamy top Inviting desert stout aroma of chocolate, fudge, burnt caramel, light background roasted malts. Taste starts chocolate and slight burnt caramel, then comes the fudge and lactose to make it very moreish, then the mild bitterness comes in. Hops are fairly low key but occasionally I get a bit of light fruitiness also. Medium bodied, smooth, soft carbonation.

Keg at Brewdog Soho, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Pleasing dark chocolate, cherry taste/aroma. Not particularly sweet, nice Black Forest gateau vibe. Enjoyable flavoured stout.
