Bottle, 2008 vintage. Red/copper liquid with minimal off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, caramel, toffee, port wine and dried fruit. Quite complex. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, plums and sweet alcohol. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Really viscous and sticky. Great barley wine, very balanced and complex.

2010 750ml shared by Brad. Glowing orange body. Oily head, soapy edges. Oaky, big woody malt tones. Rich caramel tones, but not overly sticky. A really great Barleywine. Awesome to see a non-barrel aged beer this good. Massive yet balanced.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark brown-orange color with a medium sized fluffy beige head that faded and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, malty, nutty, bready and had faint dark fruits. The flavor was tart and tangy dark fruits, nut, caramel, treacle and faint wood. Medium length tangy finish with treacle, wood, nut and caramel lingering. Decent.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange-caramel color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was tangy, bitter and a bit tart with notes of pine and orange. The flavor was bitter and tangy pine, nut, caramel, resin, black pepper and orange. Long tangy finish of pine, nut, black pepper and caramel. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

A - Golden amber with a 2 finger creamy red head. Resilient head, doesn’t fade.

S - Smells like a copper penny with a nice level of American hops. I get a little cardboard and caramel

T - Damn. Overall, it’s a nice tasting beer with a nice healthy happiness, maltiness and bitterness throughout. But the copper penny ruins it completely.

M - Medium body, not much carbonation. bitter finish

O - Overall, I’m pretty disappointed.
