Growler like bottle thing. OK, probably a growler. Hazy golden color, small white head. Aroma of slightly medicinal straw. Taste is slightly boozy caramel. Interesting.

Draught @ Craft Beer Co., 82 Leather Lane, London, Greater London, England EC1N 7TR.Clear dark black brown colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, ash - tar, chocolate, burnt - dark roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to fizzy. [20111205]

2009 Vintage Pours a deep reddish brown with a huge bubbly beige head that persists forever. Upon first pour I and assaulted with aromas of tropical fruits. Upon closer inspection I get lots of toffee, brown sugar, caramel, and dark dried fruits with a hint of alcohol and a faint bit of earthy hop. The flavor is smooth and sweet with just enough ethanol and earthy to provide some balance. Flavors of caramel and brown sugar with a hint of chocolate mixed with cherries, and plums go down quite smooth. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet syrupy bubbly mouthfeel. This is a very nice barleywine, I wish I could try it a bit fresher, but I quite enjoyed this aged version today.

On draft at Union Pig & Chicken in Pittsburgh.Black opague color topped by a medium-sized brown head. Aroma of roasted malt with hints of baked brown bread and molasses. Rich chocolate malt flavor, tastes of charcoal, tobacco and espresso. Lightly carbonated and chewey. Hops appear in finish.

On tap at sharper edge. Pours a cloudy orange color with a small white head. A sweet fresh hop nose. A smooth biscut and green hop flavor, dry, biscuit. Good.

Dark brown color with red hue; small creamy head. Aroma of dark fruits, dark malts. Sweet flavor, caramel and light sourness, some dark fruits; low bitterness and quite high alcohol presence, boozy. Weird.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks David Cohen. Bottled about a year ago, but was kept in the Dancing Camel cooling room for quite a while. Slightly hazy golden. Aroma of somewhat stale hops with floral and citric notes. Rather dry flavor with light sweetness, some fruitiness and a bitter finish with floral and grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied. Quite refreshing.

4oz pour at the Pittsburgh Public Market. Pours a fairly dark, deep brown with some thin, white head. Nice nose, nutty, lightly toasted bread, some lemon, a little hop pellet. Flavor was very nice as well, some hop bitterness, pine, lemon zest, crunchy cereal grains, toasted bread, very light coffee grounds. Extremely well balanced flavor. Full bodied, dry finish. A great take on a Winter beer.

4oz taster at the Pittsburgh Public Market. Pours a nice, deep gold with some thin, white head. Nose is very approachable, light malt, light citrus, lemon, orange. Flavor is similar, thirst quenching, sweet but not sugary, malty, orange, lemon, some light vinous fruit. Medium bodied, dry finish. Very nice session ale.

4oz taster at the Pittsburgh public market. Pours a deep orange with one finger of rocky, lacing head. Nice nose, big up front, citrus fruits, light line, a little perfume. Very straight forward but not aggressive. Flavor is similar, sweet, lightly bitter, actually less bitter than the nose would indicate, lemon, orange zest, light pine, some caramel. Medium bodied, lightly bitter, refreshing finish.
