This, my sour beer friends is one of the best beers I’ve ever had from EE. On tap at the bocktown, nice place. Pour is quite dark. I have nothing bad to say about this beer except that I wish it was one of EE staples. Does scott even have a sour staple? Ironically, the initial smell came across somewhat like a mild stout or porter but that left no inkling of the friendly tart thing going on in the tase bud arena. Yes, friendly easy and nice, would be a pleasant beer to introduce somebody to tart beers. I was really impressed with this from start to finish. Very nice carbonation adds to the wild experience. Probably should be styled as a sour, not a traditional tho I have had some pretty good mildly tart trads. Finish? What finish, its all gone! Give me another, just lovely. Overall excellent sour beer fun time!

Pours black with some mocha head and good lacing. Smells like dark, bitter chocolate. Medium consistency. Finishes a little bitter, but good. Well-balanced though not super original. Bottle thanks to Sammy.

2009 Bottle. Aroma is full of light dried fruit. Raisin and dried cherry with some plum. A light smokiness and some sherry. Moderate caramel notes and hints of toffee and vanilla. Pours a really nice ruby and burnt amber with a thick light tan head. Light lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor is full of nice sweet caramel and dried fruit. Lots of sherry and grape notes. Fruit is raisin and cherry. Moderate light bitterness. A bit on the oxidized side. Some alcohol spice in the finish. A bit of astringency. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Medium astringency with medium high alcohol warmth. Finishes a bit on the thin side. Overall not bad, but on the lighter malt side for a Barleywine. Very fruity and fairly oxidized. The malt character is starting to disappear. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
