Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was cola, sour cherry candy and was fairly odd. The flavor was sour cherry candy, cola and a hint of wood. Medium length finish. Medium body but undercarbonated. Odd.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a caramel color with a small foamy off white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was citra hops, aibt of catbox, lemon and faint perfume. The flavor was caramel, perfume, Windex, lemon, catbox and pine. Long hoppy finish. Medium body. Ok.

Had this draft beer during the 7/4 beer tour 2014 at Sidelines Beer House. Brown and clear. Smell and taste is slightly smoked, not overdone and not in yer face. Compared to may smoked beers this brew is easy on the palate. Well balanced IMHO. Fairly easy to drink fer sure. Has good co2. Yes, overall much better than I expected. I did not notice any heat until the finish and even then it was barely perceivable. Was left wishing for a little more heat in this brew, considering the name. Well done guys.

On tap at the Crane Room. Pours a medium brown with a thin head and very mild aromas. A little hint of smoke and caramel/toffee is about all I get on the nose. Flavor is initially a little watery but then develops on the palate as toffee malt starts to come through and then the pepper presence starts to pick up. Not really a hot pepper presence but more of a slight warmth and vegetable presence.

Candy aroma. Interesting leather on typical EE yeast. Doesn’t seem to be near 10% but fer sure you know there’s alky in thar. On tap at the bocktown. Quite unique, on the up side of the bell curve.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you pushkinwow! 2010 vintage. Pours hazy amber with a very small bubbly goldenish offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and fruity with biscuits, caramel, dates, raisins, oatmeal cookies, cereal, hay, caramelized apples, toffee, brazil nuts, caramelized almonds, prunes and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and malty with biscuits, caramel, hay, riasins, prunes, dates, charred wood, caramelized apples, marzipan covered baked pears, caramelized almonds, toffee and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly flat, round, slightly viscous and medium to full bodied. finish is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, biscuits, hay, grapefruit rinds, raisins, dates, charred wood, baked pears and warming alcohol. Very solid mellow and tasty barley wine. No mr fancypants barrel aged complicasaurus. It takes a lot of skill to make something as solid as this…

750 thanks to Dan. Pours a jet black color with a medium creamy brown head. A sweet nose of coffee, milk and ash. Big sweet coffee but not too much, lactose, black patent, roasted heavy malts, some metal, vanilla. Quite good. Funny story: I had a giant liter bottle of this that I asked my mom to mail out. She literally put it in a UPS flat rate box with no packing. It broke. Nice to try it finally.
