Hand pulled half pint at the Anvil on Friday 13th March 2026. Golden body (wasn't expecting that), weak white head. Aroma and taste is all about plums, it was actually very pleasant, Auntie Sue had two halves!

Amber gold with a frothy white head and a soft sweet malt aroma. Big honey sweetness up front, with chewy malt, some floral hop bitterness and a dry bittersweet finish.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wigan. Pours golden brown with a sizable foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s floral hops in the aroma plus some hints of autumn fruits. In the mouth it is definitely sweet at the start, but soon some bitterness can be detected which gradually increases. Underlying sharp hints as well. Flavour has malts, caramel and toast to start, with floral hops becoming evident later alongside hints of dried fruit and spice. Bitterness lasts into the slightly dry finish. This is decent.

Pint in The Paramount, Oxford Street, Manchester. Rather disappointing, thin, lacking in character.

Acceptable pale ale, nothing to shout about. Couple of bottles at home with a pizza.

Given it's a cheap Wetherspoon bought beer I'm guessing it's inexpensive cinnamon in here rather than Ceylon cinnamon - the third most expensive spice! Nevertheless it's a pleasant mildly spiced brew, helped by a very crisp and easy drinking texture. Low bitterness. A sweetness evident in aroma.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] Am amber pour with a ring of white head; orchard fruit aroma; fresh in the mouth with an immediate fruity bitterness, some toffee apple and a biscuity body; then more hedgerow hop bitterness to finish. A nice seasonal bitter.
