Note to Brewver members:-

The majority of beers have historically been released as 'Canterbury - XYZ' so should appear in the beer listings without the brewery name.

There is also a range of beers, usually only available at the brewpub itself and smaller batch, released as 'Foundry - XYZ'. These beers therefore appear with the Foundry name first in the beer listings.

Canterbury Brewers is a traditional microbrewery and the only one based within the city walls of Canterbury. We produce a range of modern and fresh cask-conditioned ales using only the finest quality floor-malted barley, hops and yeast available. With our distinctive recipes and our beautiful new brewery situated on Whitehorse Lane, we aim to add something different to the ever-growing and vibrant micro-brew scene in Kent. The Foundry Brewery, which opened in June 2011, is in sight of Canterbury Cathedral and just off the high street, and includes a restaurant, bar and an eight-barrel brewery. Brewery tours and tastings run regularly, and our restaurant can be booked for special events and functions - just get in touch!

Cask. Appearance is light golden, with a pure white bubbly head. Aroma- lemon, creamy malt. Taste- biscuity malt, custard creams, fairly thin mouthfeel, some hop bitterness. Malty towards the end. Nice.

Keg. Appearance is golden, a one finger white head. Aroma- hoppy, fruity. Taste- sweet malts, a bit creamy, hint of fruit, not much apricot. Slightly metallic.

From cask. Pours pitch balck with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, light caramelish. Sweet, light wooden. Caramelish and dense toffee malty. Solid vanilla and chocolate flavour. Bitter and rossted finish.

Cask. Appearance is a light amber with a small white head. Tropical fruit, mango and orange aromas. Taste- fruity, hop hints, creamy malt, smooth finish. Nice.

Appearance is fairly clear and golden, a one finger white bubbly head. Orange peel and summer fruit aromas. Taste is hop resin, bitter hops, pine, lemon undertones. Very bitter finish. Tastes stronger than 3.9%. Good.

Brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of peat, malts, caramel, ash, whisky. Peaty flavour, ash, malts, whisky, caramel, quite sweet. Light alcoholic, full body.

Cask at Ealing Beer Festival 2015, Ealing, London. A dark ruby brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, chocolate, dark fruit aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, chocolate, dark fruit. Decent porter.

Appearance is a dark, caramel brown, half a finger off-white head which disappears. Aroma- dark fruits, chocolate hints. Taste- raisin, hop bitterness, dark chocolate undertones. Quite tasty.

Cask. Pours golden, clear, a pure white head which lasts for a bit. Aroma- very hoppy, lemony, pine. Lots more hops in the taste, bitter, citrus fruit, long finish. Nicely refreshing.

Bottle at home picked up from the brewpub in Canterbury. Big hiss when the bottle is opened. Clear golden / bright orange coloured pour with a big rocky white head. Very lively. Aroma is tea, herbal / hedgerow hop, light jammy fruit. Little onion on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of tangy grains, tanin, slight infection, tea bag, hawthorne, hedgerow hop. Palate is very thin, way over carbonated, gassy, Assertive rough grassy bitterness.
